Post subject: Older AAM sets

A question for you long time players, when sets like Contested Skies, D-Day, and Reserves came out, where they very limited? I know I just started playing in January, and there are plenty of Base and Base II out there, but finding any of the other V1 boosters are near impossible, at least at a realistic price. Were those boosters always that hard to find? _________________ "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country." -Gen. Nope. They went out of print soon after V2 stuff came out.

I'm in the same boat. I can still find the following sets
Base Set
Set II
1939-45
North Africa
Eastern Front
Depending where you go the prices can be reasonable. Some stores have V1 sets for $9.95, other for $16.95.
I can no longer find Contested Skies, Reserves or D-Day. But when they were still in stock they sold for about the same prices. I wish I would have bought more when I had the chance. |

Most of the stores in this area got rid of their boosters for next to nothing about a year ago. Wish I had bought more to make my life easier, but these days I make molds of my own, or so I can do mods. One local store was dumping rares for 50 cents a piece. Shame I was late to that sale. There are still people selling their collections of V1 around, but the prices they want are rather high considering. 16 dollars for a V1 booster is just insane.

Base and Base II booster are at my FLGS for $8.95 and all the V2 sets are $12.95, so that's not too bad. I guess my question is why do we have so much Base and Base II boosters still around and virtually no Contested Skies, Reserves, or D-Day. It would be awesome if they just resized those sets to V2 and released the sets again. Just think! Jagdtiger, IS-3, Centurion, and all those other tanks in V2! That would be awesome! _________________ "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country." -Gen. George S. Patton

Sorry I don't know the answer to that. I can only guess they produced more of Base and Set 2. Why? I haven't a clue. |

I know a shop (online) that still has Reserves.
Another still sells the "enhanced Ruleset" and adds a D-DSay and Reserves (I think) booster for free.
All in Germany...
I believe one or two shops still have Reserves/Set II/BAse Set (Starters) around.
Too bad they did not lower prices, so the boosters are unsellable here _________________ [img.]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/db/Animated_gun_turret.gif[/img]

Yep, you can get the older Boosters here in Germany, but the case is around 110Euros. _________________ War is not about who is right, but who is left.

I imagine the cards are in German? (I ask because I don't speak/read English). It would still be worth buying them for the units. |

No, the're in English. I think the cards were never printed in an other language.
And worth it, hm, when I bought the older cases two years or so ago, I got them for 65Euros. So it is a bit expensive now in comparison. _________________ War is not about who is right, but who is left.

My groups FLGS has about 8 cases each of Base and Base II, and at $8.95 each, we are slowly chipping away at it, plus we added some new players, so we encourage them to buy 3 of each with a starter set. _________________ "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. My LFGS has not had a booster in about nine or ten months. Forced me to buy my stuff online. Saves me money but forces me to support someone I have never met. Next time I am in there I should ask him if he is going to carry the new set. _________________ It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. My little hole in the wall shop has a few BS and SetII boosters left, along with NA, EF, 39/45, and the surf boosters. I think i am only one of maybe 3 people that buy them. I cleaned him out of CS, DD and reserves along while back. _________________
