Tonight was the playoffs for our AAM league, two semifinals and a championship game. I was able to slide into the 4th and final spot but then had to play the 1 seed, who was undefeated. I thought about my lineup for 2 weeks, what would I use? It was determined that I would be Allies, so I went full Russian:

SU-76M x4
T-70 Model 1942 x4
Commissar x1
Cossack Captain x1
Fanatical Sniper x2
Communist Partisans x3
Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 x4
Degteyrev DP-27 x1
Soviet-Polish Infantry x1
Ammo Dump x1
Minefield x1

I felt it was solid, with the Formations, and single army bonus, it would slide into 150 pts. (158 to be exact) This was good, right? I got this! Then my opponent showed his lineup:

SS-Haupsturmfuhrer x2
Wehrmacht Oberlutnant x1
SS-Panzergrenadier x3
SS-Stormtroopers x1
Panzerfaust 30 x2
Panzerschreck x2
Light Mortar x1
Wehrmacht Vet. Infantry x2
Mauser Kar 98k x2
MG-42 Machine Gun Team x3
Grizzled Veteran x1
Veteran Fallschirmjager x2
Ammo Dump x1

Ouch, he went no armor, I'm screwed, right? We went back and forth, I stormed a T-70 into the heavily fortified Ammo Dump, and I killed it, which he quickly returned the favor on the T-70. He used his 2 Vet. Fallschirmjagers, but my Commissar used Bravery Enforcement and made quick work of them, somehow... So it comes down to the end, almost all my infantry is gone, (duh) and my tanks are on objective, and thanks to the surviving Ammo Dump and those Fanatical Snipers basically killing 2 soldiers each turn from turn 5 onward, I managed to hold out in the objective after 10 turns, except for a MG Team and his Hamster, and I had 2 damaged SU-76M's, another one untouched, a T-70, and a disrupted Communist Partisan, as well as my Fanatical Snipers, who by now had sore trigger fingers hiding out in the woods 4 hexes away. An unbelievable, and most surprising game I ever played, my opponent and I only regret that someone had to lose. Good rolls and bad rolls back and forth, strategic advances and cunning counter-attacks, this match had it all. This is why I love this game so much, for a thriller like that was, I was just so tired mentally after that, but I had to move on to face my buddy in the finals... and onto the championship!

By the way, for this season we used original cards, 150 pt. limit, formations, and single army bonuses.
