Post subject: Experimental Rules: Attrition Victory Points
|
|
|
Preparation
Players agree on a point value for the battle and secretly build fleets up to that total, within the following limits:
-1 carrier capacity per 50 points
-1 submarine per 100 points
-1 battleship per 200 points
Battle
Play proceeds as usual, but do not use Objective Markers. The battle ends when one side is eliminated or withdraws from the board.
Scoring
Score victory points normally for destroyed enemy units. Additionally, score points as follows for damage on surviving enemy units:
+2 per damage counter on Destroyers
+3 per damage counter on Escort Carriers
+4 per damage counter on Cruisers
+5 per damage counter on Fleet Carriers
+6 per damage counter on Submarines
+8 per damage counter on Battlecruisers
+10 per damage counter on Battleships
Victory
Compare the victory points for both players and measure the difference:
0-4% of battle limit: Indecisive
5-9% of battle limit: Minor tactical victory
10-14% of battle limit: Major tactical victory
15-24% of battle limit: Minor strategic victory
25% or more of battle limit: Decisive strategic victory
Example: In a 200-point battle, Germany has lost Bismarck and Z20 Karl Galster, for a total of 61 points. UK, in turn, has not lost any ships, but Rodney is crippled (4x10) and both Exeter and Ark Royal have suffered one damaged (4 and 5), for a total of 49 points. UK is therefore ahead by 12 points, which is 6% of 200 - a minor tactical victory. _________________
