I actualy WANT the plane to go 6/8... it would lead to an exciting climax ending.  I'd still have a decent shot at the plane, cover, then... the dreaded hero revival roll.

Don't bother, game over. Good game. I really wanted to win it all, so I am very disappointed. Your Hero making it's survival roll turned out to be the game breaker. Also my Hero was destroyed without doing any damage in return, that was painful. And I didn't make a single cover save.
good job  bow

this was one of those "it's a shame someone had to lose" games because in all honest it pretty much was a tie.  you were a gracious opponent, reminding me of my error in the turn number, and you put up with my potentialy annoying commentary.

so I claim we are co-winners then.  because; 1) it basically was a tie, 2) I could have been told I lost by forgetting the turn, 3) I don't really care who wins... I just try to have fun and enjoy the chess match as well as watching the amazing (and sometimes rediculous) happenings of little plastic men.

Very Happy

And also... I should point out I very nearly lost the opening round.  So I should give props to that guy also.  I'm going to misspell it but it was Scooter something.  You guys know who that is.

Anyway.  Congrats to Cap'n Miller on a great fight.  When you knocked out 3 Greeks in one turn and I whiffed in reply... I thought I was done.  That team of yours - go back and check - but whenever they shot at a tank... they kicked it's butt.  Amazing close assault and pane attacks on vehicles.

after using heroes.

I guess I think it is somewhat interesting to be able to violate laws of the game with a hero guy.  But I REALLY think they should have been given 4 defense.

It would be hard enough to kill a hero with 4 defense.  And after all... he's supposed to be 1 guy.  Snipers and mortar teams have 3 defense.  So why does this guy get 5 defense AND throw away disruption.

I think heroes with 4 defense, deployed like any normal unit, are interesting.  They may not be worth their points all the time but they could change the game.

As is?  Whatever the hero limit is you can guarentee that full number should be used.  Because 1 hero is worth about 4 or 5 basic soldiers.

last comments for future similar tournaments then I'll shut up and get out of here.

first off I hope there ARE future tournaments becasue they are fun.

second I personally prefer to play without extreme builds.  a preference i have is for a minimum of 30% of points on vehicles and 30% of points on soldiers.  That could be dropped to 20% on soldiers if buying a plane (since planes at least can be attacked with anti-soldier dice).  I think this makes the games better because without that limit the extreme build is at an advantage by potentialy making enemy units impotent.  More importantly... extreme builds can be simply rock-scisors-paper and can produce clunker games.

I don't know if it is better to allow us to see the maps prior to making the armies.  But I can see the rationale for letting us see them first.  We can understand the "mission".  But then of course we just buy the optimum pieces for the conditions.

lastly... thanks to this site and to Sindor and well... to everybody involved.

Adios.
