How will mines be played?  Should it be possible to lay more or remove them during the game?  I have always written the location of my mines on a scrap of paper and revealed them (placed the mini) when a unit moves into that hex.  They affect both sides.  Could there be engineer units that can lay mines?  I think engineers or pioneers and a supply truck would work for this.

I don't think the time scale of AAM would allow for representation of laying additional mines. That can be a time consuming process, plus laying mines in full view of the enemy can be counter productive a)because a truck full of mines is a juicy target, and b)because now they know where your mines are!

I do mines like you do, writing them down but I have also done it where you place twice as many mine markers, with half marked as "Dummys" on the bottom of the base, on the board. I liked this method because it allowed for you to really block off some areas and your opponent had to decide if they were willing to test which ones were real. Engineers should have the ability to determine real from fake minefields, but other than that you have got to send guys through there.

Excellent idea.

You have a good point, but a supply truck that could carry a certain number of 'construction points' and allows construction of real minefields, fake minefields, AT obstacles, barbed wire, and repairing blown bridges would add a new element to play.  The time factor is a problem, but maybe allow it only on very large maps - people forget to watch everything!  At my first tournament I forget to use my IL-2 and my opponent was a little stunned when he realized it wasn't destroyed.  Perhaps you would not have to announce what you were building or if you were building at all unless an enemy unit was within a certain distance of you, spotters being able to see from further away.  Also, if it was just a supply truck and the engineers did the actual construction, you could have minefields layed more quickly than if the truck had to do everything - i.e. one truck and three or four engineers instead of three or four trucks.

I like the idea of fake minefields, but I only have two minefields so it's not really feasable for me.  I allow engineers to remove minefields instead of attacking.
