Post subject: Cool Stud- With Muzzle Brake
|
|
|
This is a repaint I did for a scenario I am working on based on the 761st Black Panthers. This was the tank commanded by Leonard Smith during WWII. He named his tank "Cool Stud" and drove it across France, Belgium, Austria, and into Germany.
When they were deployed, the 71st got new Easy Eight Shermans...so I had to modify a ver 2 mini a bit. First, I had to upgun to the 76mm. Lacking anything I can make a muzzle brake out of, it sort of has a 105mm look to it. The .50 cal had to be raised too... it bugged me, just glued flat to the turret. I added the bow maching gun and then put up some sandbags and misc supply crates on the back. The markings are stickers I found at a local convention.
Anyway, I hope you like it...and stay tuned for the scenario this tank will star in.

She looks good. I especially love the detail of the sand bags and supply crates. _________________

Nice job!
I just watched the Patton 360 Battle of the Bulge episode where it talked about the 761st. _________________ Aaron

Quoted for Truth.
As for Patton 360, great show, was dissapointed though with their showing of the Torch landings.
Absolutely no mention of USS Ranger's contribution to the battles. _________________

What you talkin' about Willis? This is an English Sherman. They drive on the left side of the road. _________________ It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.

If you want a cheap, easy way to "fudge" muzzle breaks, try putting some paint on just the tip of the barrel, say, 3mm or so. Build up a few layers, and after about 6 coats, you should have the end of the barrel thickened enough to give the idea of a muzzle brake. The paint will be kinda soft for awhile, since it will be so many coats, and you can push the end of the barrel against something and "mush" the very end a bit, giving the look of that flange on the end of the muzzle break. _________________ painting services available for any kind of minis.

That works! No sense knocking yourself out to make an exact muzzle break. I cheat on those a lot myself. I keep muzzle breaks on hand, but only for 88s. Everything else, I have to make from scratch, and thier is just no sense in the hours required to make such a small part to the exact right look. To me, if it has anything on the end of the barrel, and I can field more units quicker by cheating, then so be it ! _________________ painting services available for any kind of minis.
