Painted my PBY's and B-25's.
After seeing these pictures I am not fond of the Krylon clear coat. Anyone have any they use? I was using the Testors Dull coat but its kinda pricey so I go the krylon stuff. Its 2x more for half the price, guess now I know why.

These look very nice. I really like the detail on the B-25, and your colors are fantastic. YOU HAVE GOT TO TELL ME WHAT YOU USE FOR THAT MIDNIGHT BLUE ON THE FIRST CAT!?!?!?

Well, I have mixed results with Krylon too... nowhere near what you do with Citadel, but its still annoying. A couple of things you might try... Make sure you are not using the Krylon in heavy humidity, and, dont "blast away" at the figures, you can quickly gloss up your paintjobs even though the Krylon is Matte. Just do one or two passes per facing of the figure.
Krylon more than any other clearcoat, can change the color of what you spray. It almost changes by whole shades, and not just in a dull vs. gloss kinda way. Skyblue can become more navy blue after a single coat! Man you want frustration... try painting a whole Regiment of Napoleonics, spay with Krylon, only to find your new unit doesnt even come close to matching the rest of your army... even though the paints were the same.
FRUSTRATING!!!!!
I feal you man. _________________ Mutants For Nukes! |

Seisen, the FS number would be 15042 Dark Sea Blue--also used for full-body coat on all late-war carrier birds, a personal favorite of mine.
When I was building models of Blackbirds and trying to show them at Mach 3, I actually used that blue instead of black. _________________ <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Beautiful.
I am using Armory clear coat right now and it seems to be okay. I have gone through multiple brands and none of them have given me too much trouble.
Try this trick:
I warm all my spray paint (primer and dull coat) in a warm water bath in the sink for a few minutes before using them. A local modeler told me that trick. It thins the paint a bit so you get a finer mist to reduce heavy overcoat, and it moderates air temperature and humidity variations. But you have to be patient enough to do at least two coats (I do three) with each coat a thin single pass. The biggest problems come when you try to do it with a thick single coat. _________________

One other tip. Please limit the width of your photos to about 900 pixels. Wide photos cause the page and text to scroll off the screen of computers set to lower resolutions or those of us that still have standard aspect ratio CRT monitors. _________________

Thanks man!! The color I used is by Vallejo called Black Grey. I got it with a FoW paint set that I bought about a year ago. I turned out pretty good, just wish it had more of a blue tint, but guess thats a easy fix.
Thanks to everyone else for their commented!!
Sorry about the size Weeds. I am using the links via Photobucket. I will make sure to resize them to 640x480. Not sure how they came out so big. _________________ Take a peek at my tradelist:
