Thanks, and nice Hornet! Looks very much like the Enterprise.
I am doing the same, layering styrene, and then filing down to get the right shape. Soon I should be able to finish the hull and then move on to the flight deck.

Here we go, my Malta so far:

Quick question: recognize the island on it?
That's right, its from the OR. Here's the story with this one.
I bought three FS boosters from a new game shop I discovered while out with my folks. One of the rares, an OR. 
Already have one, so I set it aside for trade/mods. One day, I notice the bridge leaning, so I try to bend it back. Then, the bridge snaps off. Ok, so I can't trade it anymore. It's for parts then. When I was building my Malta, I needed an extra Illustrious bridge. After snapping both my nail clipper and an actual clipper trying to pry the blasted bridge off, I'm left with a somewhat gnarled Illy hull. Thus, this leads to the holy marriage of the OR bridge and the Illy hull to form my RN carrier.

Meh. Your Unicorn looks nice, but its dimensions and armament isn't accurate.

I'm well aware of the fact she doesn't look like THE Unicorn.
I really wasn't even gunning for the real Unicorn, she was just sitting there in need of an island, that's all. I thought she resembled the Unicorn. That's just the name I decided to give it. Besides, my main emphasis was on the Malta.
To settle this issue I've left it nameless.
