Good Morning All,

I will be publishing a monthly W@S news letter in my group blog. If anybody would like to contribute with an article or a photo please contact me.

Thanks,                                                                              arisaka99

I will be publishing my first newsletter next saturday. If you have an article on tactics, hypothetical guesses for the next set, custom minis or painting, verified information on the next set or sets, I'd also like an article on getting started with W@S and etc. Contact me via PM or by E-Mail. PM for my E-Mail address.

Thanks,
arisaka99

P.S. If this goes well I'll be adding AAM to it next month.

Possibly a section on a historic battle from that month as well as a "unit a month" review section?

Or even a section each month giving the historical background for a ship (maybe a rare)

For the beginner.  Welcome to the world of War at Sea. On the AAM  forums you'll find many interesting and helpful people.  If you are just starting out collecting and on a budget here are a few suggestions to get you started out.

To store your mini's in at the start consider a simple Tupperware container to hold your ships. This stops them getting lost and having to replace them and protects them if someone, or something, hits your carry-all.

For the ship cards consider using at least penny-sleeves to protect them from stains and damage. Most local game stores (LGS) carry them in packs of 100 for a dollar.

When going to collect I would advise taking a look at CWG's great card scans of all the units to date< insert URL here>.
This way you can see what types of units are available to what side and from there decide which nations you might want to collect first.

To start out you should consider getting at least one started to have the rules, maps and other items needed to play.  Once you do this you have two paths to take.

You can check out the great marketplace section of the site, visit Miniature Market < inset url here> or brave the perils of e-bay.  This will let you pick those single units you want and either try and arrange a trade through this site, or buy them online.  For those people who's cash is tight this is a slower but safer route as you get exactly what your after with patience and time.

If you have some cash to spare you can go the booster route. Miniature Market is a good spot to check on this again for online shooping or check out your LGS. This is more of a luck of the draw way of getting units but you might find yourself with a good trader or two you can try turning into a unit you want.
Again with time and patience you can find what you want, and maybe get a few you didn't expect.

Either way you should eventually find yourself with a merry fleet or ships ready to unleash heck on your opponents depending how the dice roll.

As a parting salvo for great scenarios and fleet ideas you should check out the sub-forums on the site as many talented people have come up with great ideas and house -rules to make this game ever changing and exciting.
