Went with rewording it to BB mains and recosting it. While this isn't the fix I posited, I think its the one that most will go for. _________________

Fatal Flaw is really stupid ability because its extremely luck dependant.
But on other hand i believe that we should make as less changes as possible. So i would say, let FF stay but change it on extended range only and recost Hood to 45.
This will solve several problems:
-with the exception of few crusiers it will mean that its working with BB mains only
-it will reduce its luck dependency a little because Hoods owner can take this into account and manouver to be out of dangerous range (and its both historically accurate and tacticaly interesting)
-its easy and little change
I am definitely against some version of crippling salvo because crippling salvo needs another roll of dice which is waste of time in my opinion. Its better to keep abilities which needs another rolling at minimum.
Other than my proposal i see additional options which i like:
- remove FF and no recosting
- 2 dmg on FF and recosting to, lets say, 45 |

The only time I play HMS Hood is when we use a house rule that deletes the "Fatal Flaw" We consider that the KMS Bismark, "vitaled" HMS Hood in the 1941 battle. Having the SA Fatal Flaw is Not needed.
Otherwise I won't play this great looking ship. _________________ Darn the Torpedoes; full speed ahead!

Like most, I think Hood's a bit too expensive and Fatal Flaw is a bit severe. But I like Hood and I think FF adds some interesting flavor to the game.. Besides, for the sake of the game's simplicity, I'm all for as few changes as possible. I can live with this uniit as is. |

Yesterday my gaming group got together and someone fielded a Hood at cost 40, no FF. We have been "experimenting" with differents costs for different sessions to see when one would get into the game. I can say that at at 42, it was not fielded. It's a limited sample set to be sure, but some data nontheless. _________________ TimK

I voted for H as well.
Hood's armament on her card is actually wrong for her last battle. The last of the 5.5" guns were removed in May 1940. Hood had a dual-purpose secondary battery of seven twin 4" turrets from May 1940 to the end.
http://www.hmshood.com/ship/secondary.htm
After reading about the proposed 1940's refit description at this website, I'm not so sure that Fatal Flaw should be removed. From the website;
"•Location of shell rooms and magazines–. This, Hood's "Achilles heel," would not have been fixed. The powder magazines would still have been situated dangerously over the shell rooms." |

I'm all for just ignoring the blight and leaving the cost as is. Her Achilles heel is already there (vital of 13). Good enough for me.
