Post subject: Anyone with ideas for what to do with an extra Washington?
|
|
|
I have an extra Washington since the North Carolina has been released.
As there were only two of the class made, I was wondering what to do for a mod?
Should I save her for "parts"?
I should say that I did have her mounted on a "water" base with White PVA glue. So she is "used"
Please, don't anyone say "send her to me!" either... I'm looking for mod ideas.
Thanks.... _________________ The SCA: Just an excuse for getting dressed up in Medieval clothing and beat each other up with padded sticks! |

What is a B 39 Battlecruiser?
I'd say hold onto it for a little bit, since the Origional set is starting to dry up, shhe can become trade fodder later for someone trying to get all the ships in every set. |

No cealigh, seriously... Id just make the simplest (and one of the coolest) mods you can. Make the Washington in her origional, planned, guise... armed with 12x 14-inch guns in three quadrupple turrets. Just pop off the turrets, carefully slice off the gun barrels to the turret face and then mount quad barrels. If you get some styrene rod of an appropriate size, place some wax paper on your work-space, then cut 4 sections of rod to about 2.5 inch or 3 inch lengths (accounts for errors in cutting), then set the first rod on the paper, pull the next one through a beed of glue, attatch to the first rod, repeat. Once all four rod sections are glued together AND DRY... cut to length and then glue to the turret face. Once they are dry, replace the turrets and paint. Thats it bro.
I made one of these for a customer (who later couldnt pay and so I traded him an unmodded Washington) and I still have her sitting around. She is cool for "alternative history" games.

Yeah, can't say I've ever heard of a B39 battlecruiser. Seisen's idea and the Nebraska sound interesting.
Awesome work btw Seisen! _________________

If you wanted to model the ship more accurately, youd replace the two funnels with a single large funnel, and also replace the first and last twin 5-inch DP gun turrets on each side of the top row, with Fletcher/Roberts style, single mount 5 inch DP guns turrets.

The Quad Turret varient sounds intriging... Tho' I'm liking the Nebraska concept as well... Hmm to develop a back story for it... _________________ The SCA: Just an excuse for getting dressed up in Medieval clothing and beat each other up with padded sticks! |

I know I just kinda threw the Nebbie out there... but I've been thinking, if we could find someway to get "Shipyard" Images of all the Navy Field Exclusive ships it could be a great boon to the modders here. _________________

Its a massively multiplayer online naval combat game, you get a crew, level them, get ships commensurate with their skillset, and eventually get up to maximum level Submarines, Carriers, or Battleships. _________________

B65:
Nebraska:
NavyField is a great game, with lots of ships to obtain to fight with.
www.trainworld.us
You can use that site for ship images. To find the gif images like the B65 above, you can go to the official NavyField site and then game info > ships.
This is one place I went to find images of the Hindenburg carrier I built, and the carrier Malta I am currently building. _________________
