Post subject: Challenge #10: Logo+banner competition
|
|
|
This is the final creativity challenge.
You have three weeks (up to Nov. 13) to prepare a logo + banner combination for the forumini. Their height must be 150 pixels and their total length (side by side) must be 990 pixels.
Please try to keep the size of these images as low as possible, because they are loaded every time one visits the forumini. A 300Kb .png file simply wouldn't do.
The existing logo is not only welcome, but it's kindly requested to take part, as it is or modified.
We will work together with the winner(s?) of this challenge to make sure we have the best possible logo + banner combination. After the competition, we may even try to improve it further based on the voters' feedback.
Good luck! The future looks of the forumini is in your hands (and mice) _________________

Mice are the representation of hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings who worked to learn the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything from a supercomputer, for which the answer is 42. Without knowing the actual Question, for which the answer is 42, said hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings have the supercomputer come up with an even bigger computer to formulate the actual question. This computer used life itself as part of its systems for 8million years and was ultimately destroyed 5 minutes before finishing the task.
Dogan
However the answer is flawed as the experiment had been soiled. _________________

What does the text in the current logo say?

I am not a graphic design person.
My best software is Appleworks 6, which is way too old to be of any use. I couldn't even try. If I spent 10 years working only on the logo+banner, it would still be a major embarrassment to the forum to have it anywhere on the boards.
Any donations for a better software are more than welcome . |

Here are the roughs of a couple ideas. I'm posting them as is (ultimately I plan on condensing the logos on the top one down to just one WAS and one A&A Land logo and on the second one I plan on lightening the tank side, tamping down the brightness of the ship side, fixing the curvature of the S, and straightening the pixelated outline), since I'll be too busy to finalize them by the deadline. Also I'm not sure if you're allowing more than one submission for this since the idea is to pick the best one for the forum as opposed to an individual winner per se, but if you're only allowing one entry, I don't care which one gets submitted. Also when displaying them for voting, please note the changes I intend to make when I have time, should either one be chosen.

So it is permissable to use the official Axis and Allies logos and graphics from WotC? _________________ "...all the measures of the Government are directed to the purpose of making the rich richer and the poor poorer."

probably not because of those pesky copyright claims lurking around. _________________

Not looking for a "probably" here...
NEURAL, what are the rules?
I'd hate to sink a lot of time into this only to find out my entry was illegal.
I had assumed WotC logos were not to be included as they were not present in the previous banner... _________________ "...all the measures of the Government are directed to the purpose of making the rich richer and the poor poorer."

You can include WoTC logos as long as they don't take too much space. E.g. Bondboy's are just fine. _________________

OK...
So we're having a logo contest in which it is allowed to incorporate other logos?
I thought we were designing our own, new logo... _________________ "...all the measures of the Government are directed to the purpose of making the rich richer and the poor poorer."
