My preferred tactic against heavy tanks is the Jeep/Kübel + Engineer combo - take two of each
Movement phase - 1 mounted engineer moves into tanks hex (defensive fire - usually dismounts)
2nd engineer gets into enemys tank hex (no DF fire)
Jeep/Kübel gets disrupted because of overstack
(bets use if you can get in from behind - many biggies can shoot in front only ...)
Eginee ususally has a high enough CA to damage the tank...
soemtimes a 3rd combo is held in reserve if I expect more tanks (like Char)
same price (roughly as 88) but not all eggs in one basket.
panhard should be no problem if you bring a plane - or if you go first
Question is - do you have to take out a Char, or do you concentrate on support units first... _________________ [img.]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/db/Animated_gun_turret.gif[/img]

From my exp, best German units for 1940 battles against France are:
SS Stormtroopers - if those get close to objective it's bye bye France.
Wehrmacht Vet Infantry - excellent
Pioneers
20 mm Flak - has 7 AI on long range , now good also for the French plane or use the 7,5 cm G18 Howitzer - that is exceptional
Pzkw38t - Good all round piece, robust for 10 pt
I never play 88 or Elite P4 D because those are too expensive.
SIG33 sometimes comes in handy, having blast having also Enhanced Range.
Now with the introduction of an Early Stuka, Chars are easier to kill. Germans also have an ACE so it's not a big problem.
The above is valid for 100-150 pt general games, I usually play only scenarios, so the French do not use 2-3 Chars because... that would be far from the historic reality. _________________ Custom AAM Maps & Counters here

It depends on the format of play. If you play a standard objective format, you can close assault French armor that moves into the objective hex or adjacent to it. Unfortunately I play in a campaign format which means that if I don't kill the French tanks in one game the French add them to their forces in the next game. |

I do the same
but as winning is decided by eleminating all the enemy units ultimately the char has to go too, the decision is whne to attack... _________________ [img.]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/db/Animated_gun_turret.gif[/img]
