Post subject: The Old Chinese Navy
|
|
|
During WWII, the Chinese Navy was not much more than a light surface fleet. Prior to WWII they had a considerably larger navy. This is just an overlook at their major (and some minor) vessels. The goal is to generate interest in both Minor nations and pre-WWII warfare. (only belt and deck armor values given for ease of typing)
(Older style Romanization used)
Ting Yuen Class - Armored Turret Ships
1882 - 1912 (Chen Yuan) 1881 - 1985 (Ting Yuen)
7220 - 7670t 15.7 knots
4 - 12in/20 (2x2), 2 - 5.9in (2x1), 3 - 14in TT
Belt : 14in Krupp Compound Deck : 3in
The closest China had to a battleship. Both these ships were made and designed in Germany, and both were very powerful and armored for their time and size. Ting Yuen being flagship. A 1:1 scale replica now serves as a museum in China.
