Post subject: Land Airbase - can you bomb it?
|
|
|
Hi Guys
long time lurker - first time poster
anyway I had a quick questions - can you bomb the land airbase - reading rules for aircraft I saw no mention of attacking it - I know certain ships have the ability to bombard the land air base - but nothing about planes
alternatively are there any house rules that people play for this? |

to the forum!
To answer your question, the only way you can attack the land airbase with planes is with Zuikaku's Airfield Strike ability. Other than that, it is off limits to planes.
As to House Rules, I am not sure, but you could check the House Rules subforum. You can find House Rules for almost anything there. _________________

A house rule I've been experimenting with is...
Planes may bomb or strafe AC that are rearming
1. Bombers use Bomb Dice. Fighters use AA dice
2. If you score 7 or more successes, a rearming plane is destroyed. If more than 1 plane is rearming the defender gets to choose which plane is destroyed.
3. Less than 7 successes adds a rearming counter. If more than 1 plane is rearming, the defender chooses which plane gets the rearming counter.
4. Halifax Bombers hit on 5 and 6 vs just 6.
5. B25s do not get Skip bombing. 6s count for 2 successes. _________________ TimK

It should go without saying, but torpedo bombers that do not have an alternate payload may not attack airfields... _________________ TimK

How does the Zuikaku's ability work? Is this a free attack? Does the plane that is at the airbase get a AD role? |

Zuikaku and now Intrepid share the airfield strike ability. You take a fighter and assign it to the other player's airbase, that fighter rolls it's AA dice at a plane that remains on the airbase that turn. If it exceeds the target's vital armor, then the target is destroyed. All modifiers can be applied, for example the Zeke's surprise, 109's interceptor, any sort of Expert Fighter SA, and even Escort from a grounded fighter also at the airbase. There is no air defense roll, nor can the enemy station a fighter above their own airbase, but the ability is once per game, so it's not a huge boon. _________________
