Post subject: HMS Hood SA question...

Hello!
By the card, (Fatal Flaw) "if enemy battleship rolls four 6s against this unit, you should put a face-down counter on this unit."
So, if example Bismarck shoots with all his gunnery 1-3, it is most certainly that Hood would destroyed? Four 6s, not so many, eh?

The four sixes must come from one attack. It can be mains, seconds or thirds, but the sixes from your main gunnery attack don't carry over to be counted with your secondary attack etc.
Still, you're right, four sixes aren't so many, even for one attack, which is why people think that the unit is both far to expensive and far too fragile.

Most definately, still I have seen people make 3 or more attempts to try to get a quick FF kill and be unsuccessful.
ND likes to point out that he thinks FF is an advantage for Hood.
IMO, FF needs to be drasticallt modified or eliminated for the reasons you cited.

Her armour was not defective. As related on other threads she was making an angled approach to Prinz Eugen and Bismarck and it appears that the killer shot from Bismarcks fifth salvo lofted over HMS Hood's side armour, completely missing it and then went into the boat deck, through the thin armour over the last engine room and into the 4-inch HA/LA magazine or else directly into a 15-inch magazine.
These magazines were well protected from either side, astern or above but the armour did not cover the area adjacent to the engine room.
It was a very lucky shot and would not have happened at close range.
The way I play it the shooter has to be range 3 or greater and it has to be battleship main armament only.

Sink the Hood! (At Range 1 with the Bismarck)
Mains
Rolls: (15d6)      
Secondaries
Rolls: (7d6)
Tertiaries
Rolls: (5d6)
Edit: The dice roller here never wants to kill her... heck, I didn't even hit her! Anyway, there are many threads on how to 'fix' the Hood ranging from taking away Fatal Flaw to modifying what exactly needs to get those 4 6s (Battleship mains, battleship mains at range 3 or greater) to changing what happens when those 4 6s show up (two hull points of damage instead of one) to just plain changing it into something else (-2 Vital Armor vs Battleships)
