Post subject: Simple objective question
|

Hi all,
I was playing the expanded rules last night on the EF Map pack factory assault scenario (Germans must take 2 objectives out of 3 in 6 turns else Russians win) and my opponent and I couldn't see how the Germans could do it.
The Expanded rules state that to hold an objective, no enemy units must be adjacent to the objective hex, so that's 7 clear hexes required. With all those cover rolls, that's hard to do.
It takes 5 turns to get infantry to the 2nd objctive, unless you use the H/T (which is AT Gun fodder) and I just didn't have time. In the end, I had to assault the objective with tanks only and although those Mosin Nagant defenders couldn't move from the hexes as their commanders were dead, their powerful close assault and all those cover rolls they can make meant that it looked impossible for the Germans to get close to winning.
In the end, I was one kill short of being able to be the sole army IN 2 of the 3 objective hexes, but there were still Russians adjacent to both of those hexes.
Anyone else see this? am I reading it wrong? Obviously a house rule would fix this, but I thought I'd ask how you guys play the game.
Thanks in advance!
Dave. |

I've never played Expanded Rules, but that seems like the rules. You could load up the Half Track in the movement pase, and then (if going second) move out into the open in your assault phase. Or (if going first) load up in the movement phase, then during the assault phase move the half track out into the open, and disembark the troop. That will prevent the Half Tack from being shot up without moving up units. _________________
