The First Team by John Lundstrom is a superb book. Replete with detail, it's a slow read, but totally worth it. I'm waiting for the follow-up book he did on fighter pilots over Guadalcanal.
I also got The Barrier and the Javelin by H.P. Willmott in the mail. So we'll see how that is. Supposedly, it's one of the best strategic studies done of the early 1942 Pacific time period. _________________

Good? Bad? Worth It? |
Update on this...
World's Worst Warships will likely bristle a few people, but Antony Preston did a good job. Definitely a good pick. _________________

Got a copy of French Battleships 1922-1955 by John Jordan and Robert Dumas this week. I'm highly impressed. It's only 230 pages, but the page size is very large (to accommodate large pictures) and it details almost everything you could want to know about French battleships, from high quality color illustrations of seemingly all of their camo schemes to proposed alternate designs to operational history.
Does anyone know of a similar book for the Italian BB's? |

Johnny,
Thanks for the review of the book. It is another book for my dream library.
I'll ask around about Italian books. Can you read Italian if necessary? |
