The tank Battle of Prokhovka Occurred on July 12th ,1943
and was the largest tank battle in human history. It was the pivotal battle of the Operation Citadel,the german offensive to encircle Soviet forces in the Kursk Salient

THE BATTLE
On the morning of July 12th,II SS Panzerkorps Advanced on Prokhorovka at the same time that 5th Guards Tank Army launched a counter-offensive in a attempt to stem the German advance. The SS and Guard units Collided west of Prokhorovka in open country punctuated by farms ,rolling hills and gullies.

The soviet attack on the 1st SS Panzer started at 9:15am ,with tanksrushing into the relatively unprepared forward elements of the 1st SS. by 9:30am ,within 15 minutes of the attack commencing ,the soviet 25th Tank Brigade had lost two-thirds of its tanks. Despite this surprise,the attack was defeated with heavy losses on both sides. By mid daythe 5th Guards Tank would go to the defensive. Due to counter attacks, all ground gained by the soviets had to be given up by the evening.

SCENARIO
The Russians 18th Tank Corps lead units must push thru forward elements of the 1st SS Panzer Division. While German forces must stem this advance.

SETUP
Russian player signifies which side he will attack from .The German Player then set up opposite the side the russian player designated .
Russian player is not set up on the map but enters the map in the movement phase.
German player setup forward element units with in 6 hexes of the russian map edge . German panzer platoon sets up with in 3 hexes of his side map

OBJECTIVES
RUSSIAN-must smash through forward german line and exit the map.
all german ground forces must be destroyed to leave the map.

GERMAN- must hold the line .none shall pass.

SPECIAL RULES
COMMAND TANKS
both sides will have command tanks that give +2 to the germans and+1 to the russians on the initative.
the vet tiger is the germans command tank. the russian player picks one of his as the command tank.

TANK ABILITIES
all german tanks are conisdered SS so they get SS Determination- this unit can move while disrupted.

all russian tanks get guard crew -after rolling attack dice for a tank ,may reroll dice with a one(this is a change to the standard sa)

INITATIVE
the player that has won initative is the only player that may bring on airplanes on the board that turn.(this simulates off map air battles thatwere going on around the battlefield)

RAMMING
tanks may ram another tank,but to do so may not fire that turn.a ram is done in the assault phase
a ram is successfull if a player rolls a dieroll of 5 or 6 if russian ,6 if german.(this simulates the crazed nature of this fight)
a succesfull ram-both tanks recieve face up disrupt markers. and both tanks can not fire in the turn after a successfull ram.
a ram the that fails to achieve its hit number in a ram the tank is placed in the hex directly on the otherside of the tank it was trying to ram .it faces its rear to the tank it was trying to ram.

* germany must hold the line

but it seems like the russian forces may need at least a bit of infantry no? And maybe one or so more german tanks?
