Post subject: Unit Removal Question
|
|
|
Sometimes, the more I think about "simple rules", the more I confuse myself.
I know that submarines "sunk" by ASW during the Surface Attack Phase are removed and cannot attack during the Submarine Attack Phase. My question is, at what other points are units removed from play? Do units get removed at the end of the Air, Surface and Submarine Attack Phase?.....so that a DD "sunk" by a straffing attack is removed and so cannot perform ASW during the Surface Attack Phase?
Thanks |

At the end of each phase where units can attack all counters garnered during that phase are turned face-up. If one is a destroyed counter, you remove it then. So units can be destroyed in the air defense, air attack, surface attack and sub attack phases, and are removed before the next phase begins.
So to answer your example question, yes, a DD sunk by strafing (air attack phase) would be removed before it could use ASW (surface attack phase). _________________

As an addendum to this question, having the DD sunk before the submarine attack phase would then remove the ASW penalty during said sub phase as that is when it is taken into account correct? _________________

Aircraft count when they actually made an attack on that submarine. Ships count by their presence, but only during the submarine attack phase. If they've been removed already, there's not harassment. _________________
