Thank you all for entering the contest, and viewing, and voting. Nice minis by all. But I just got a reminder of how fleeting a good time can be.
I just woke up and went downstairs, I found my son asleep in his bed, and the mattress was glowing orange. As I yelled at him "Sean, wake up, your F****** bed is on fire" it burst into a flame (yes, he was smoking in bed). I woke everyone up, and we formed a bucket brigade and had to dowse the mattress with 12x 10 gallon buckets and we still could not put it out. We had to drag the flaming smokey mattress up the stairs and toss it outside. 5 more minutes, and I would have lost my son, and perhaps my entire family & pets. If it were not for my sons cat going crazy to get out of the house, I probably would have slept longer (a lot longer).
All the disasters I had in December & January were almost enough to land me in the looney bin. But I knew it could have been worse. It almost just got "that" worse.
I am just sooooooo glad to even be here now. Maybe in a week or two, my heart will stop racing.
After we got it outside, we turned the hose on, and soaked it for 5 minutes. 10 minutes later, the mattrress was sooooooo hot, it steamed all the water out and re-ignited on our wooden wheelchair ramp to the house, and we almost burned the house down from the OUTSIDE.
....
EGADS !!!!!

My wife (after everything calmed down a bit) started to make that uber-stinky corned beef & cabbage stuff. Normally the smell makes me upset to my stomach (thank goodness it tastes better than it smells) but it is actually a blessing to have the smell of that nasty cullenary delight to cover up the even worse smell of a toasted mattress. Yu know the smell a cigarette makes when it burns down to the filter? Now amplify that by 10,000.
Right about now, I would prefer the smell of a ton of cattle-poo dumped in the house, as opposed to the smell thatr mattress made. Thank goodness for corned beef & cabbage! Woohoo!

Brilliant job all of our artists, and a well-deserved victory for Panzerpainter. Not much considering your bad luck these last months, but I hope it will bring you a smile.

Thanks all! It was great fun. I dont know if I will try any other of the "olympic games" though, since I really dont know much about A&A rules. Maybe you can split up my points between the others? Or give mine to Celt?
Everythings OK here. At least THIS disaster will come out of my Son's pocketbook, and all that was lost was a mattress (and a day of really, really, smelly house).
