Post subject: 200pt German/Italian to face 200pt British/CW(Sicily 1943)
|
|
|
Me and my friend decided on a rematch for our 1943 Tunisia game by playing on the same map, but instead using 2 copies of the map and positioning them so that there is one large Sicilian town in the center and open country on either side where the British and commonwealth will be attacking. He has 200pts to spend on units for the attack and may choose to attack from both sides or one side only. I have a garrison of 200pts points worth. The Allied objective is to reach and capture the HQ in the center of the town, or the hex the HQ was in in the case of it being destroyed(the HQ does not go towards my point limit but I do get to use its ability). The Axis must hold out for 25 turns. Here is the map once again:
Two of these maps will be joined at the ends by the town, such that there is a large town in the center and open country to either side.
Here are the special scenario rules;
Axis infantry and fixed weapons will be dug-in, meaning until they move they will receive +1 on cover rolls.(Fixed weapons can now be moved)
Italian infantry, except for officers and Blackshirts, must make a "Morale Roll" at the begining of the Axis movement phase each turn, on a roll of a 1, they cannot move or attack that turn.
Aircraft can spot for units with "indirect fire", they cannot attack if they choose to spot that turn.
At least 100 points worth must be Italian, with at least 50pts worth infantry, and there is a limit to 4 Blackshirts.
Alpine troops, M13/40s and other such equipment is not permitted due to historical reasons. Ofcourse this goes for German and British/Commonwealth forces too.
Feel free to comment, i'm really looking forward to this match, it'll be interesting for sure. _________________

I think it's a pretty balanced build. The Sem 75/18, Stug, 2 AT guns will offer decent AT attacks.
The Sem 75/18 has 10 dice at long range, and the Stug has 11. That's pretty good.
The biggest problem I see is how to divide your forces. All in the center, half and half at either ends or all on one side.
I'd recommend switching an Italian MG for a German one in case you fail one of those "morale" rolls. That way you still have one MG in action. |

How about a more mobile approach?
Position your 50 Points of italian infantry aroud the HQ and spend the rest of the Points on Autoblindas, Stug III Gs and a Hauptsturmführer.
I wouldn't recommend using a plane as spotter, since your opponent will most likely field a Bofors. _________________ The truth hurts. |

2x Breda Modello 37 (16pts)
2x Autoblinda AB41 (16pts)
2x Semovente 75/18 (28pts)
Total: 103pts

1x MG42 Machine-Gun Team(10pts)
3x Wehrmacht Veteran Infantrymen (15pts)
4x Mauser Kar 98k (12pts)
1x StuG III Ausf. G (19pts)
2x Marder II (34pts)

How about this?
6pts Stalwart Lieutenant
16pts Blackshirts x4
12pts Fucile Modello 1891 x4
16pts Breda Modello 37 x2
24pts Autoblinda AB41 x3
28pts Semovente 75/18 x2
=102pts
7pts SS-Hauptsturmführer
57pts Stug III Ausf. G x3
10pts Panzerspähwagen P204 (f)
20pts Wehrmacht Veteran Infantrymen x4
4pts Panzergerenadier
=98pts
Minimal exposure to the morale rule, lots of durable tank hunters, armored cars to make use of your adavantage in initiative and a solid infantry force to guard the objective. _________________ The truth hurts. |
