Post subject: Some Hidden movement game pix...
|
|
|
Hey all,
Curtis and Henri and I finally got together Saturday to play out some game variation ideas that I had. Specifically hidden movement. I'm working up a series of linked scenarios which will require "fog of war" or Hidden movement.
I worked up a set of rules on paper and we were working out some bugs.
The rules ended up requiring me to ref the game. But I knew I was going to have to anyway since they were my rules...
Each player was givin a map encased in a rigid clear plastic cover and given a coloured vis-a-vis water based marker with which to plot their unit moves on. We got very clever, we did!
Some of the usual suspects who like to lurk around our games asked us... "Where are all the ships???" To which I replied... "Well they are right there on the game table! Can't you see them? Crikey we are playing with close to 600 points worth of units per side!"
We weren't tho... I limited it to only 150 points per side and limited CV's to only one per side.
I had the little nimrod goin tho!
Pic one.
After scouting around Curtis (IJN player) finally spots the USN hidden sub on his side of the Map.
The only piece of terrain on the table...
A shot of the table with the fog and squalls on it.
Kinda bare huh...
Here are the two vict... er... Players....
On the left side of the pic is Curtis. He is playing the IJN.
On the Right side of the pic looking straight on is Henri. He is playing the USN.
here is the Archerfish getting some loving from an Emily...
And again...
Here is the LUCKIEST ship on the table. An IJN troop ship comes under fire whilst in the fog. Here the Dauntless have a go at her... BAM she gets Vitalled!
Wait! What's this? She's not Dead? (Curtis rolls a SIX! to save her!)
OK! now the Devastators have a go! POW!! Two Sixes!!!
What the...! Burning Mattresses on the water!
Curtis rolls another Six to save for concealment!
A PBY gets bounced by the land based zekes!
Henri manages to locate and bracket the IJN sub...
He manages to get a hit on her even tho they are in a squall.
Problem is Henri failed his save and Curtis did not...
Scratch one DD and the sub goes on to sail another day.
Here Henri has thru a series of well planned scouting located the IJN troop ships again, this time tho they have friends...
Curtis finally locates the Yorktown... She's being escorted by the Atlanta!
He sends in his Kamikaze's... And they die.
Henri's devastators have a go on the troop ship and gets aborted.
And Henri loses his PBJ too! Even tho it's bein escorted! The Zekes rollout 4 sixes!
Maybe the Daunts will score a home run!!?
POW! Right in the Kisser!
Another troop ship is sent to Davey Jones's Locker!
In the end... Curtis managed to still get two of the Four Troop ships (one of which was the Lucky one) to the Island, which was his mission objective. So he won the scenario.
We had a lot of fun with this one. Gave us an excuse to use weak scout planes to search the big big ocean for tiny little ships! _________________ The SCA: Just an excuse for getting dressed up in Medieval clothing and beat each other up with padded sticks! |

Thanks Chesty. Yeah we like those game tokens from Litko man. They really spark up the table. We always get positive comments from onlookers about them.
I like to toss in a wee bit of humor here an there.
We did have a blast tho. Curt and Henri really liked the way the hidden movement worked out too. They liked plotting their moves and sending out scout planes to look for the fleets.
We kept them real simple. They have an Anti-air of 1d6.
Armor = 1 Vital armor = 1 and hull = 1
They get to see in their sector and positively ID any units that are in that sector. They only get general info on anything located in any immediate adjacent sector. Such as basic ship class for example, and as ref I had the fun part.. I did not always provide them with completely correct info there either. This is to represent the mis-identification of surface naval units. It made for some really interesting maneuvers!! LOL! _________________ The SCA: Just an excuse for getting dressed up in Medieval clothing and beat each other up with padded sticks! |

Looks like a lot of fun thanks for the report. Also the tokens really do seem to perk things up. _________________ Member of the Helldivers WAS league
