Post subject: 350 Point German Extended Range Army
|
|
|
SO with m Wespe that I recieved from a trade and a 350 point game coming up this weekend I decided to build me a 350 point german army. It is based around heavy tanks with the Extended Range ability. Here it is:
King Tiger x1 = 67
SS-Jagdpanther x1 = 42
Elefant x1 = 58
JagdPanther x1 = 39
Wespe x1 = 26
Messerschmitt Me 110 x3 = 51
Bf 109e x2 = 28
88 w/Gunshield x1 = 20
88 Flak 36 x1 = 19
I believe this would be a very powerful build in almost any scenario. You have the BF109's for air cover on the 88's, the Me 110's can hunt infantry and light vehicles, as well as provide air cover. The Wespe can decimate infantry while taking out light tanks. The 2 Jagdpanthers, King Tiger, and Elefant will just pound the living crap out of every vehicle in sight. So with this build you get everything, AA, AI, AT.
Rating: 9 out of 10. If this had more AI ability I'd give it a 10. _________________ "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Churchill

2 things I forgot to mentio:
1) If you allow overage throw in a Desciplined Spotter. This will help the Wespe and Planes
2)The Extended Range is extremely helpful as you can then strike early in the game with powerful rolls. _________________ "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Churchill

| You'll be torn apart by paratroopers and players that use infantry to any effect. |

If you replace the 88's and the Wespe by Brummbaers then it might work. 88's and Wespe are really easy to kill so I wouldnt bother with them outside scenarios.
The aircraft should perhaps be replaced by two Bf 109 Aces and two Me262's. That's anti infantry and air dominance. 110's aren't that good for their points.
Last but not least, fit a Hamster in there somewhere. Initiative +3 is a good thing.
Then again, just go for it. Like said, infantry will have an easy time against this list (imagine having to deal with 60 US marines and a 20 of flamers.. you can't). But it will be fun. _________________ There are no desperate situations, there are only desperate people.

K thanks for the advice. I might take out an 88 and replace it with my Brummbar but I like the ER 20 on those things. I don't see exactly how an infantry build (except flamethrowers) couuld kill this. There aren't many infantry with a close assault high enough to hurt these heavy tanks. I believe I will be using it this weekend and I will post an AAR in the AAM General Subforum. _________________ "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Churchill

Other than the King Tiger and Elefant your tanks are susceptible to Close Assault (Use Rear Defense when this occurs). Paratroopers in particular has a Close Assault value of 8 dice (Giving a chance to disrupt against King Tiger and Elefant rear armor). Even with 6 dice your 4 DEF rear armor tanks is manageable. _________________ James 1:17

It is possible, but to me is doubtful. However I was dropping hints to my opponent about this being a tank heavy build so he was saying how he is to use tanks then. If he does use tanks do you think I can do well? _________________ "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Churchill

Oh kay, I lost the battle against a main force of 4 ISU-122's. I am dropping the rating down to 5 because of this: it is just to fricking easy to get under extended range (meaning get within normal range so extended range is useless.) _________________ "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Churchill

What about a Nashorn instead of the Elefant ? It's cheaper & used with the german sniper is a deadly combo . I've taken out a IS-3 in 1 turn with the combination . Instead of Me-110 (17pnts) what about a Do-335 (Piffel) for 15 pts? That's my 2 cents . Interesting build though . _________________ Always playtest the dumb strategies , because if it works it's not dumb !!! |
