Jack of All Trades seems like a fairly powerful SA.  It might merit a two or even three point cost.

I agree at least a two point cost. I was thinking 17 points. 18 points would be a pretty expensive cruiser. I don't think it quite equals the Baltimore in power.

Edited to add: I was thinking of using one SA or the other, not both.

Adding the curse back in could bring the cost back down.

The problem is we couldn't figure out how to make the curse work smoothly. Plus I am not crazy about negative SA's. And this ship had a very long and hard career that really doesn't deserve it.

You could add Envy of the Fleet to Cruiser Hunter, instead of Jack of All Trades, but I'm not sure about the cost.

So here is where I think we are:

Speed 2
MG: 9/9/8/7
2G: 5/4/4
AA: 6
Armour: 5/10/3

SA:
"Jack of All Trades" or "Cruiser Hunter"

So compare it to the Baltimore and Cleveland.

Even with "Jack of All Trades" it will have Main Gunnery equal to the Baltimore, secondary gunnery one better at range 0 and 1, equal at range 2, and AA that is still one less than Baltimore or Cleveland.

Then add that Baltimore and Cleveland both have ER 4, Baltimore has TD1, Cleveland has +1 to gunnery when undamaged bringing it up to Wichita at range 0 and 1 and +1 to Wichita at range 2 an 3, and Cleveland also has Improved Radar.

The Wichita has to 'compete' with the Baltimore and Cleveland for your fleet build. I think giving it 'Jack of All Trades' and a cost of 16 is  the correct cost. If it cost 17 points why would you pick it over the Cleveland or even the Baltimore? If we give it Cruiser Hunter we would need to drop the cost to 15 IMO. The AA is its big weakness relative to cost for the Cleveland and Baltimore. Again, why would you pick it over a Cleveland for 16 pts?

I would prefer "Jack of All Trades" and a cost of 16, but I can go with "Cruiser Hunter" and a cost of 15.

her guns were the same model as Baltimores,so maybe adjust the gun values so while undamaged she has same hitting power as Baltimore?

I don't understand why there is a problem with "Jack of All Trades". It brings up the mains while it is healthy to equal the Baltimore and gives it improved AA which it would have had the latter half of the war. The 8-inch guns may have been the same model as Baltimores, but it would have gotten better radar fire control as the war progressed. Baltimore reflects late-war radar fire control. So again, I think the SA runs a nice balance from early to late war capability. This ship had one of the longest U.S. active duty lives of the war because it was also on neutrality patrol. R.B's Enterprise really is a late war configuration even though it also spanned the whole war. The SA allows the Wichita to split the middle.

I would also like to propose that "Jack of All Trades" be reworded to "This unit gets +1 to all attacks while undamaged." That makes it a more universal SA for ships that also have ASW and TT or some other combination of attacks. In the case of Wichita it does not change anything because it does not have ASW or TT values.

How about "This unit gets +1 die to all attacks while undamaged".

Eliminates any possibility of people thinking that it hits on 3s, 4s, 5s, and 6s.

Jack of All Trades - While undamaged, this unit rolls one extra attack die on all attacks.

you misunderstand my intentions.  I didn't think she should ever have better gunnery than Baltimore due to Balties better electronics.

so give Wichita MG of exactly one less die than Baltimore so undamaged she has the same MG as Baltimore, and not one more at range 1.

Okay. But she does have MG stats that are the one less than Baltimore. We would need to drop the secondaries to 4/4/3/- to do the same for them. Although I don't think they make that much difference.

oh...Duh.  I read your previous post wrong.  Embarassed   I'm using the only computer at the motel I stay at when I'm working, and everyone who checks in has to check in on this computer.  I tend to get rushed.

Update on proposed stats:

So here is where I think we are:

Cost 16
Speed 2
MG: 9/9/8/7
2G: 5/4/4
AA: 6
Armour: 5/10/3

SA:

Jack of All Trades: This unit gets +1 to all attacks while undamaged.

Here is the card. Note I changed the wording on "Jack of All Trades" just a bit to be consistent with the WotC card wording and to make it clear  that it is +1 die.
