Post subject: Rate my first pulls, 1 starter, 2 boosters from original set
|
|
|
Ok,
I am married so you would be hard pressed to hurt my feelings. I am looking for honest rating of my Starter and 2 booster packs from the original set.
I am not thinking in monetary terms but in game play terms . I also would like to know if you think I pulled more aircraft than normal or average, and whether thats a good or bad thing.
Heres my List :
STARTER :
USS Baltimore
IJN Jintsu
IJN Kinai Maru
USN Aircraft TBD Devestator
IJN Yukikaze
Aircraft Swordfish
Let Terrible
Stuka
U510
Booster 1 :
Motor Torpedo Boat
USS Samuel B. roberts
IJN B5N2 Kate
Gloire
BISMARK (Woot! good pull imo just because such a powerful BB and its Historical prowess)
Booster 2 :
IJN I-19
PT Boat
Stuka (2nd one)
Emanuele Filiberto
Richelieu
Thanks in advance for your input ,

Not bad, I wish I got Bismarck and Richeleiu, I had to by them of eBay. I think it is balanced game play wise. I got a starter alot like yours, mine had a Baltimore, TBD, Jintsu, and Yukikaze, dont remember the rest. _________________ "The situation is in doubt". CMDR Cunnigham, wake island, 12\23\41 |

Anything with Baltimore in it can't be too bad.
Overall, just looking at the rares, I would say you pulled fairly well. Baltimore is a very nice piece, and Bismarck and Richelieu are fairly effective as well. At least you didn't go with Task Force and pull Jean Bart. _________________

the Bismarck, Richelieu, Baltimore are all excellent pulls.
The Devastator and the Duca are pulls I'd hate getting.
The rest are decent.
So pretty good pulls for 3 boxes. You've got 2 100 point fleets right off the bat:
Allied
Richelieu (54 pts)
Gloire (14 pts)
Le Terrible (9 pts)
Samuel B. Roberts (6 pts)
PT Boat (6 pts)
Swordfish (10 pts)
Total: 99 pts
Axis
Bismarck (53 pts)
Duca d'Aosta (12 pts)
U-510 (11 pts)
2x Stuka (14 pts)
Motor Torpedo Boat (7 pts)
Total: 97 pts
So not too bad _________________

I remember that I started playing War at Sea with just one starter, and my biggest units were the rare Tennessee and the uncommon Duca d'Aosta. I figured at the time that the game had to be pretty broken if my one Allied unit (Tennessee) could take out my entire Axis fleet, which it did most every time. _________________

Actually, from a playing point of view, you're lucky, as mentioned above, that you pulled two battleships that can stand up to each other so you can have productive matches with just the pieces you've got. _________________

I think that may well have been the suckiest rare pull possible in Set I. _________________

Agreed, until you get a BB or CV of some sort you really can't think of building even a 100 pt fleet (BB preferred at 100 pts of course). Fortunately the booster pulls helped out. _________________

Baltimore; Bismarck and Richelieu are NOT the worst rares one can pull.
Allies are lacking planes (good ) and subs.
France is complete.
No Carriers, but with only 3 rares I think that is OK, because a carrier for one side and a BB for the other would be worse...
No fighter is bad but if you keep buying they will come
Best of all you got 2 BBs that are "evenly" matched.
And the better AA capability of most allied ships sets off the "better" planes of the Axis.
If you buy another booster soon I suggest Task Force (you would be unlucky if you got tirpitz and Jean BarT - and it minimzes the chance of doubles of UC/Commons) _________________ [img.]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/db/Animated_gun_turret.gif[/img]

I remeber the day I got WAS for the first time, minute by minute. And the units I got in that booster, didnt have enough for a starter, I got Kongo, Nordmark, Swordfish, I-19, and the USS Fletcher. _________________ "The situation is in doubt". CMDR Cunnigham, wake island, 12\23\41 |

| Those fleets play each other pretty well, better than mine. I started with one starter and one booster, I had Hood and Enterprise and several planes for the Allies and Duca D'Aosta and Koln to beat them. The Axis never won a single game. |

You can't be serious, my starter contained:
HMS Exeter
HMS Javelin
USS Samuel B. Roberts
Hurricane
Shoho
Kinai Maru
Type13 Subchaser
U510
D3A Val
And I had NO boosters to go with (the store did'nt have any), I would've LOVED to get a starter with at least a good cruiser for the axis, but I had to wait 10 days before I got two new boosters and my friend got a starter and booster, and after that we could make OK balanced fleets. _________________

Those are some great builds for what he has available. You even managed to stay "Historically correct" with the Axis by not including any Japanese stuff. Nice job Commissar_JPH
You'll be glad to have the USS Baltimore once your collection expands. |
