I could've sworn I already posted this, but I can't find it and people have asked so here it is.

Simply put, treat the Kamikaze as a 5/7 instead of 5/5, if it's aborted it automatically presses the attack and if it survives then remaining AA can still shoot at it. If you abort it again it's destroyed. This results in Kamis actually being able to attack from time to time and represents the tenacity of the suicide pilot.

Meh, you could do that. I wouldn't, as it's an utterly useless unit the other way anyhoo, and the way it's set up under this still only one or two usually get through, then they're dead and useless to you. Plus they're really only a danger to lighter ships and carriers.

I'm gonna try this in a few games.  But I'm going to assume that a pressed Kami only hits on 5s and 6s.  Is that right?

I've found that Kamikazes are an interesting way to bolster Japanese air builds.  If you assume some level of attrition (which will wind up happening)  Then a Kami becoming available allows the Japanese to keep attacking.

How about it automatically inflicts 1 damage if it gets through the AA? It is a human being behind the controls after all.

Yep, standard 'press the attack'.

I prefer to let the chips fall where they may, lots of Kami hits did little to no damage.

They  were actually very effective against ships with wooden decks, but proved less so against ships with metal decks regardless of which was ship armored better.

Great idea Duck!
Along those lines, something we have been doing in regards to those A/C that do have press the Attack or it's variation...
If the air group is destroyed in the AA phase,  They roll their press the attack anyway.  If Successful then they hit only on a Six, not 5 or 6 as normal.  This reflects the few lucky bastards who made it thru the firestorm to put the "pickle in the barrel" so to speak.

That's how I generally use them myself, as land-based Zekes. This does give them SOME viability tho.

I understand what you are worried about but against all but big cruisers and battleships and a couple of the carriers they have a very very good probability of getting through as most ships only have 5 AA dice.  Yes if they have fighters you are more likely to lose them but they were used en mass and that seems to have been pretty reliably reflected.  That second take down is nasty.

If anything make them like a 4/6 that auto presses.

My question is, has anyone actually tried them in a normal game with the land airbase full? (full 7 kamikazes)?  I know I haven't.  I'm betting that those 21 points could be very dangerous.
