Post subject: Ardennes 44: get the fuel depot!

South of Hotton, the ardennes, 25th december 1944
The last great german offensive on the western front was a gamble that even Hitler's senior officers refused to support: too ambitious in scale, overwhelming allied air support and the german panzer formations (due to lack of supplies) were to capture allied fuel depot on the march...a gamble indeed
this scenario depicts the last offensive engagement by the 116th panzer division to capture the American fuel depot at Hotton, north of the Meuse.
Facing the panzers were the local garrison and rushed elements of the 3rd US tank division.
maps:
West- map1 (upside down)-mapf2 (upside down) -east
consider jungle hexes as forest hexes
the US player adds 2 town tiles anywhere around the city hexes on map 1.
This is the fuel depot the germans are after.
The US player places 3 fuel depots on the city hexes anywhere he wants. these depots do not count for stacking and cant attack nor defend. they do provide their special SA though.

set up up to 4 hexes away from the eastern side

Victory conditions:
The german wins if he controls all the hexes containing the 3 fuel depots at the end of turn 8.
Special rules:
Allied air supperiority:
From turn 4, the US player rolls a dice: on a result of 4 to 6 a Mustang comes into play.
Roll on each turn thereafter.
Well led:
At the beginning of turn 4 the US player can call in reinforcements. If he doesnt do so the reinforcements will go somewhere else at the front!

Also enters anywhere along the eastern map
1x jagpanther
If the US player feels he doesnt need reinforcements then the german doesnt get the jagpanther.
The 116th panzer division has the initiative on turn one. |

After getting some nice feed back on this scenario, i've done a little editing.
Mainly adding extra transport for the germans as well as stiffening their infantry formations (exchanging mausers for veterans- thank you Sharpe).
I've also dusted off the special rules a bit.  _________________
