Post subject: German ER Army - 200 Points
|
|
|
So with my second 88 pulled tonight I decided to go and make a German ER cheese build. ER is extended range for future reference. So there are 2 options for this build:
Option 1: 206
King Tiger x1 = 67
SS Jagdpanther x1 = 42
Elefant x1 = 58
88 w/Gunshield x1 = 20
88 x1 = 19
Option 2: 211
King Tiger x1 = 67
SS Jagdpanther x1 = 42
Elefant x1 = 58
Panzer IV Ausf F2 x2 = 44
Obviously both options have significant advantages over the other.
Advantages Option 1: Well for starters you have the ER 20 of the 88's, which is just devestating and can easily keep your enemy tanks at bay. Then you have the 3 big heavy tanks to use ER and keep the enemy away while destroying them at the same time.
Disadvantages Option 1: The 2 long guns for this build are very vulnerable to air, but if you know there will be no planes in the game, for instance a tank match, then these will perform well. But due to the vulnerablity of the 88's this build might have some trouble.
Advantages Option 2: In this you don't have the ER 20 but what you DO have is a small hunting group. The F2's will go out together and, while still being able to shoot using ER 10, can also go in to disrupt/damage and maybe even destroy a fwe tanks while the 3 big heavy tanks pound away from long range. Also, less vulnerable to airpower.
Disadvantes Option 2: Not much that I can see; except you could get overwhelmed or outrun. And you lose the valuable ER 20.
Rating Option 1: 6 out of 10 - the big long guns of this build, 88's, vulnerability to planes really brings this rating down.
Rating Option 2: 8 out of 10 - Not having the ER 20 could be a problem, but having a small hunting group with ER 10 is slightly better. All units are mobile and cans trike with power from a ways away. If it wasn't the vulnerability to being overwhlemed, I'd give this a 9 out of 10.
What do you guys think? _________________ "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Churchill

Yes I know that, but with only 7/7/6 they are not the most effective. I think they should have some bonus for being flak, like "FLAK: Any plane attacked by this unit is automatically disrupted". I use them more as AT weapons. _________________ "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Churchill

50% chance to disrupt a plane with those 88s, 23% to kill in one shot...if you have 2, well, so much the better. _________________

Yes you are right, and since I don't use stacking, 2 88'sw will go in 1 hex. You should check out my 350 point build. It is like this with extended range and such. _________________ "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Churchill
