Designed by Kurt Tank to complement the BF 109, the FW 190 was by far the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world when it entered service in autumn 1941. The deliveries of the A-4 began in the summer of 1942.
The FW190s excel in Boom&Zoom tactics. Fly high, spot a target, dive, quick burst, and up again. In diving abilities they are equal to the P-47s.
¦ Do not stay in a dogfight for long. Every manoeuvre will bleed energy and you'll quickly lose the upper hand.
¦ The strongest point of the FW190s is probably the armament. Very effective guns and lots of ammo.
¦ The FW190s are very difficult to down. They can take more hits than most other planes of the era.

The 190A was 2 years ahead of the rest of the world when it appeared in 1941. This is the 1942 A-4 version with the 4x20mm cannon, because it's the one for which I have the most detailed info.
It was practically a Hellcat in 1941. All its specs/stats and way of fighting resemble the 1944 Hellcat and Corsair.
If you want to see a rival for the A-4, you'll have to wait for the Spitfires (IX and mainly VIII). Until then, the side that fields FW190A4s will need to have less aircraft than the enemy to maintain balance. _________________

Thanks.
Out of curiosity when you break down planes to each type (Me-109e1 or FW-190a4) are you only keeping that one number type (1 and 4) to represent that plane's series? Or will you add to the series like the FW-190a7 for example or the Me-109e4. Not sure if there was enough difference in game stats to divorce the 2, I can see a difference in say the Me-109g and e series. _________________ Always Flying. Always Fighting. RIP JIMMY.

I'm not sure if I will do more of the same series or not (depends on how different they are in terms of stats), but I consider each variant as unique aircraft. The A-4 does not represent the A series and, in principle, will not be the same as A-3. _________________
