Post subject: 15 cm siG33 (Sf) auf PzKpfw I ausf B

suggested German vehicle: 15cm siG33 (Sf) auf PzKpfw I ausf B
Operational history: Heavy companies 701-706 were equipped with this gun and saw use in Belgium, Holland, and France in 1940. Later used in the Soviet Union.
Stats:
gun: 15cm howitzer-- use chart proposed by N.D. to get values
25 rounds
elevation -4 to 75 degrees
armor:
shield: front 10mm @0-25 degrees
side 10mm @0 degrees
hull, front, upper: 13mm @22 degrees
hull, front, lower: 13mm @ 27 degrees
hull, sides, upper: 13mm @ 22 degrees
hull, sides, lower: 13mm @ 0 degrees
hull, rear: 13m @ 0 degrees, 13mm @ 19 degrees
hull, top: 6mm @83-90 degrees, 6mm @ 90
degrees
hull, bottom: 6mm @ 90 degrees
speed: Reports vary from 35--40 kph (21.75--24.9 mph).
fording depth: about 1 meter
SAs (borrowed liberally from multiple sources):
Indirect Fire:
This unit can fire indirectly on a target outside the unit's
line of sight so long as one of the following friendly units
has a line of sight to, and is within the specified range of,
the target: forward observer/artillery spotter (12 hexes),
soldier-spotter/recon unit (8 hexes), soldier-commander
(4 hexes), or soldier unit (1 hex).
To resolve indirect fire, subtract 1 from each attack die
(inaccurate) and use the following table:
2 to 11 hexes
AI 9
AV 5
(IDF cannot be used against a target in the same hex
or 1 hex away.)
No turret (f/k/a "fixed howitzer""). This unit can attack only units in front of it.
Blast. When this unit attacks, make a separate attack roll against each unit (including friendly units) in the target hex.
Destruction 2: the result of the target's cover roll is reduced by two. [If I understand Sharpe's proposed cover rule correctly, each unit has an inherent cover value ranging up to 6. If the unit is hit, it has to roll its cover value or or a greater number to get cover. Counter-intuitively, higher inherent cover values mean a unit is less likely to have cover. A target with an inherent cover value of 4 and no cover modifiers has to roll a 6 (6-2=4 ) to get cover against a hit from a siG33. A target with an inherent cover value of 3 gets cover if it rolls either a 5 or a 6. Cover modifiers that can add to the die roll (e.g., Hit the dirt!, Hull down) are discussed in Sharpe's rules thread.]
Open Back — Enemy units can use their anti-soldier attack values when attacking this unit from behind, but unit's defense rises to 3. ("Behind" means the attacking unit is not forward of a line drawn parallel to the rear edge of the unit).
Suggestions, anyone? In particular, I'd like to know whether the treatment of Sharpe's proposed cover rule in the "destruction 2" special ability is correct.
N.D.-- are these armor stats the type you need to do vehicles once the vehicle AI conundrum is resolved?[/u] _________________ HHRgamer

Edited initial post to attempt to clarify application of "destruction 2" special ability to FA cover rule. _________________ HHRgamer |
