Post subject: [Soviet Union 1938] I-16 Type 10 and 24
Although difficult to fly and with poor visibility, the I-16 proved a successful fighter which gained the respect of its opponents in Spain in the civil war, in the Far East against the Japanese and during the opening stages of Operation Barbarossa against the Germans.
Due to its carburettor engine, the I-16 is very sensitive to engine cutouts (starvings) when pushing the stick forward, since fuel is fed to the engine with gravity. This may place it at a disadvantage when diving. While the Type 10 has decent armament, it's the type 24 that shines with two machine guns and two 20mm cannon.
Some of its natural opponents include German BF109Es, Romanian IAR80s, Finnish B-239s and G-50s, and Japanese Ki-27s.
