YES! Always liked me some British Destroyers.

Need to go buy myself some more Shapeways once I have the money.

Here's one I've had in the works for a while, the Romanian Submarine and MTB tender NMS Constanta.  Here's for ya, RAEV! Wink

Thanks fellas!

Now some more conjectural goodness for Italy.  The General Rota carrier/cruiser hybrid design!

I've been thinking about doing a card for a Malta-class carrier.  Super-fantasy-fu in WWII, but Variable has made a nice mini: https://www.shapeways.com/product/RYWXRYGSW/1-1800-hms-malta-cv

With 80-100 aircraft, we're probably talking about aircraft capacity on the order of an Essex class.

As a Fantasy Ship, it's possible.  Much like Vanguard.

SWO, if you got ideas on the stats/SAs, I'd be happy to do the graphics and make the card here! Wink

Here's the wikipedia page link ...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malta-class_aircraft_carrier
(Class of 4: Malta, Africa, New Zealand, Gibraltar)

Comparing the data there with our "guidelines" we get:

Cap 4 (80-108)
Mains: 6/6/4 (as Illustrious class)
AA: 9 (8-4.5"DP, 55-40mm Bofors)
A/V/H: 5(?)/12(?)/5(?)
Speed: 2

Torpedo Defense 1
Damage Control (?)
Experts, etc.

Just a starting point, with plenty of wiggle room!

Wouldn't it be Torpedo Protection instead of Torpedo Defense?

Given the UK wartime experiences, I doubt they would have gone with lesser torpedo protection than the preceding Illustrious/Implacable classes.

AA: 9 (8-4.5"DP, 55-40mm Bofors)

I think 9 AA might be a bit of a push.

Implacable (8 AA): 8 × twin QF 4.5-inch DP (16 barrels) + 5 × octuple, 1 × quadruple QF 2-pdr (44 barrels)

Malta (? AA):  8 × twin QF 4.5-inch DP (16 barrels) + 8 × sextuple, 7 × single 40 mm Bofors (55 barrels)

Essex (8 AA): 4 × twin 5 inch (127 mm) 38, 4 × single 5 inch (127 mm) 38 (12 barrels) + 8 to 18 quad 40 mm Bofors guns (32 to 72 barrels)

Valiant (8 AA): 10 × twin QF 4.5-inch DP (20 barrels) + 4 × octuplet QF 2-pdr (32 barrels)

Vanguard (9 AA): 8 × twin QF 4.5-inch DP (16 barrels) + 10 × sextuple, 1 × twin, 11 × single 40 mm Bofors (73 barrels)

Massachusetts (8 AA): 20 × 5 in (127 mm)/38  (20 barrels) + 60 x 40 mm Bofors gun (60 barrels)

Midway (9/7 AA): 18 × 5 in (127 mm)/54 caliber guns (18 barrels) + 21 × quad 40 mm Bofors gun (84 barrels)

Iowa (9 AA): 20 × 5 in (127 mm)/38  (20 barrels) + 80 x 40 mm Bofors gun (80 barrels)

I'm not sure that 11 more medium AA barrels is enough to push Malta up to 9 AA from Implacable at 8 AA. Vanguard is close, but has 18 more 40mm barrels. Malta definitely wouldn't have had the kind of AA firepower that Midway or Iowa did.  I'm not sure on this one.
