I was about to say something really stupid...whew!
Anyhoo...It'll spark up here with the next set...it really is too bad about the scale change, they lost a lot of my money with that so I will buy a few boosters and trade the V2 stuff to a couple of regular trading pals for the infantry or artillery and thank God or whoever you wish that there will be some new planes...yeehaw..cant wait to shake those boxes and strip all of the planes off the store shelves...LOL |

Odd! or is it?
My latest scenario "the last push for caen" (a labor of love) has more than 100 visits here, and none there.
something is not right over there...

Just an observation of someone who started playing about 5 month ago, for a bunch of people who seem to love this game there is alot of complaining about a lot of the game. Why cant it just be fun to play and when something is wrong in the rules or got overlooked make a house rule to fix it.
I started playing A&A about 15 years ago and now i never play because i kept modifying the rules, now i have a 12x8 foot board, a 4 page book of new rules and technolgies and dont even use the A&A peices because i use the minis, But ill still play A&A if someone else does.
So instead of complaining about everything make what you want of it and continue to support the game and buy the pieces so the make more and we can make better battles with units they havent made yet.
Id say they need way more air units and anti air units but at this point how much more to make is there really with out getting into units that they made 1 of in reality. i get that the V1 unit were way better but so were older cars but you still buy new ones and drive them. So i say only play V1 ride a horse and quit complaining or get a new car drive to a local AAM vendor buy some more pieces and play. |

Local fixes to the rules just fragment the community more and more. Back in the day, there was an entire tournament system with rankings and everything. It's hard to play someone from outside your group when everyone plays different rules. It also makes it hard to teach the game to new players less astute than yourself.
The other plus side to the complaining is that it has motivated us amateurs to make significant contributions to the game. Presently, there are a number of alternate rules systems, thousands of custom units and a ton of really great scenarios. So, imagine the complaining as analogous to what Mrs. Edison used to do a century and a half ago:
"Tom! Tom! It's always so dark in here. Can't you do anything about it? While you're at it, find a way I can listen to music while I fold your clothes."

| I see your point. Constructive criticism is good. I guess alot of this thread sounded rather cynical of the game and its makers. I see the need for their forums so us players as the ultimate game testers to point out the flaws and make suggestions to improve upon it. Its a fine line between constructive criticism and complaining. |

It's a rather blurry line around here. The WAS designers have a good rapport with those players. They exchange ideas and give and get a lot of support. The one AAM guy who comes here does little more than taunt us. _________________

Hey Duke, don't get us wrong, we're complainers complaining. BUT!!! We love this game. And we love the pieces WotC put out. In fact we buy it by the cases and by the boosters and individually. In fact, I don't believe there is one AAM player here on the dry side who could imagine boasting they have enough pieces and are dropping out of the buying part of the game. Shoot, I have enough to play both sides of a fairly large game. Do I have enough pieces? NO!!! I need more. Spoken like a true addict.
Our problem with WotC is how they treat us. We feel they treat us for the most part like we are nothing. Like we are so beneath them. That we should just take whatever they toss us and be thankful, and shut up. Well, we do take what they toss us, and we like it. But we won't shut up. We speak our mind even when we all fully understand it makes almost no difference to what happens to the game. In fact if we had less input I think we would have NO impact on the game and how it develops.
The truth of the matter is, we do understand the game better than WotC. We have people on this forum who can quote you stats on the velocity of shells leaving a barrel of five varieties of the same weapon. Some of us can quote you tactics and names of commanders of battles most have never heard of. Some know more than everyone at WotC about anything to do with this game. They are game designers, we are history buffs. They make nice plastic game pieces, we know facts. So yeah, we complain when they make cards that frankly make no sense when placed next to another card. Yeah, we complain, but we have some that have in many ways rewritten the game. Plenty of animosity on both sides. Still, we love their pieces (for the most part) and they love our money. A not so perfect relationship, but it works, even if it is dysfunctional. They keep making pretty pieces, we keep giving them way too much of our money. I figure it is a good deal even if they don't like us as a group. _________________ It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing.
