You've forgotten about the Union Zouaves who were quite numerous in the Eastern army and in fact there was a great deal of variance in the Western armies (mainly in headgear).  Also don't forget Berdan's Sharpshooters, 6th Pennsylvania (Rush's Lancers), US Marines, and the US Regulars (Hardee hats) as some unique Federal units.

The only units that should be wearing Hardee hats for distinction is the "Iron Brigades (2nd, 6t, 7th WI, 19th IN, 24th MI). Wink

I currently have and play BattleCry (AH) 1999 I acquired it in 2006 and painted up the miniatures.
Since then I tried to upscale the game to 54mm useing Conte and Britains prepainted figures. I have a Hotz 5" Hex mat with the same layout as the game board. I created some 3-D terrain such as Hills, fences, entrenchments and used model trees and some buildings when neccesary.
It actually turned out well and I GM'd a few games at local conventions with the 54mm soldiers and it was a real hit.
I have played this at Gametable online and I generaly get my but wooped.
When I was in my teens I had painted up 15mm figures and used some genaric rules to play with my friends, but I was in the minority of gamers back in the 80's for my age.
Now I Wargame weekly and love it very much.
I posted some pictures of my 53mm Battlecry games on BBG if you want to check it out.

Have you got a link for that? I'm about to bet rid of a ton of 54mm as part of a condensing of my collection, but I still love a well-put toghther 54mm game. Ironically, more than a few of the pieces I'm going to drop are the ones you're using, as well as a number of Forces of Valor Civil War pieces.

I used to play ACW in 15mm but sold them of to upgrade to 54mm. The only scale I now use for ACW.
Have played Johney Reb but prefered Fire and Fury. Now I use the Warengine Universal rules for most of my mini games.
I play ACW in scirmish scale and in regt scale.

Those are Awesome pics....reminds me of the type of ACW gaming I did back in the day.

I was just telling my kids last night on the way home from the LGS that I wish they had been older before I sold off my ACW collection.

The lovely thing now is that with the new plastics you can build a huge new army for cheap...

I still have hundreds if not thousands of 15mm figs in various stages from unpainted to primed sitting in drawers downstairs.  I sold off my collection because my painting skills had improved and the older stuff just did not measure up.  Always intended to re-bulid, but then life happened. Wink

Some of what I had:

What are you doing on here when there's painting to be dome then man! Laughing Seriously though, nice stuff! Nothing's cooler than a large well-painted game. As an aside and in keeping with the earlier 54mm discussion, I see Victrix has released some more of their Napoleonic line, this time in 54:

Hey, afilter,
I recognize many of those figures from the various companies.
Nicely done.
I have been painting 15mm ACW for YEARS and I have several Fire and Fury brigades. I dusted them off and played this weekend.
The Gallant Southern Defenders repulsed the Yankee Aggressors in grand style (and it wasn't me rolling the dice).

Anyway, Fire and Fury rules are simple and quick (like A&A) and fun to play.

I'd probably play more if I didn't have to set up 3D terrain.
I like the appearance, but it takes time to set up and take down.

How do I post pictures without posting them on Photobucket first?

Yep, I own Fire and Fury along with the two scenario books.  I also tried my hand at Johhny Red and very early "On to Richamond".  I was in the process of graduating to "Fields of honor" last I played as that is what the LGS uses..

This past weekend I reclaimed my mancave (aka cleaned the basement) and found all my unpainted minis (drawers full) as well as rule books.  It is tempting to paint now that I have an area to do it, but I think they are all going to find their way to auction. Rolling Eyes
