Post subject: forumini wiki for the units of AAM and WAS
|
|

http://forumini.wikidot.com/
I set it up. I'll soon improve its graphics and everything. In the meantime, who wants to give it a try to write a few reviews for nations or units or strategies? _________________

Play with it a bit and you'll find out everything you know. It's easy to edit and create new pages.
I've created a USA (AAM) page for you. Click on "edit" to add or change anything there. Click on the linked names of units to create or modify existing pages for them. http://forumini.wikidot.com/usa-aam _________________

ND, I registered but it won't allow me to create the page for the Sherman. A little help? _________________ "Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak, Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Churchill

Ok, I think i fixed the problems with the user privileges. I think you can create/edit now. You don't even need to be registered. _________________

Post subject: AAM Wiki Reviews
|
|
|
I think that under each unit heading, the name of the reviewer/forum member should be listed at the top of their review. That way, multiple users can write reviews on a single unit, and readers can gain even more insight into individual units because of the availability of multiple viewpoints from different users (each with different experiences, opinions, and strategies). Just my thoughts on the matter... _________________ AAM

Post subject: Wiki Structure
|
|
|
I think we also need a structure for each unit and nation page - I've just put together a rough structure which others can use as a guide or further develop). I also think that each nation page should have a link for general reviews for that nation's army as a whole - however, I am too tired to do any more work tonight. I'm interested in this project, however, and would like to continue updating it at a later point.
EDIT - I've edited the Hungarian page the most thoroughly so far - my proposed format as discussed above can best be viewed there. _________________ AAM

To add photos use this code
| Code: | | [[f<image http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r111/NeuralDream/AxisAllies/AAM-REVISED/AAM_North_Africa_Revised01_Australi.jpg]] |
replacing, of course, with the proper url of the image from our AAM cards gallery.
To write them down in the way AG124 has them, copy-paste from his nice article about the Huzagol 8mm. _________________

To follow AG124's great template, the code
for Sharpe's Australian Officer review is:
| Code: | ++ **Unit Card:**
[[image http://s142.photobucket.com/albums/r111/NeuralDream/AxisAllies/AAM-REVISED/AAM_North_Africa_Revised01_Australi.jpg]]
++ **Set - Rarity - Number**
North Africa - Uncommon - 1/60
++ **Reviews:**
**Sharpe:**
ANZAC officers found themselves in a difficult position. Like American commanders, they came from an extremely democratic society with little history of class distinctions. Their men greeted orders with a strong degree of skepticism and demanded demonstrative leadership. Unlike Americans, the Australians had to deal with superiors from the British army who were very conscious of class and social status. This friction, along with colonial disdain for British inefficiency, created take-charge men who waited for neither orders nor support.
The Australian Officer, from the North Africa set, might be the Allies’ best commander for a close quarters fight. He rolls ten attack dice at close range and eight at two hexes. The LIMITED RANGE 2 Special Ability is hardly a drawback on a jungle or urban map. PINPOINTER is a powerful ability in these situations. INITIATIVE +2 makes him the equal of any commander the Australian could oppose in an historical situation. Seven points is a good cost, although the unit’s true worth is quite situational.
Historically, the Australian Officer is superior to the somewhat bland Vet SMLE. His ability to aid the Commonwealth in Pacific terrain gives him a Down Under tone. Still, tailoring the Australian Officer to counter Japanese tactics might have made for a more interesting piece.
Driving up the Kokoda Trail or defending Tobruk, the Australian Officer is the commander of choice. He won’t be nearly as effective on open ground or where range is a factor.
++ **Plastic Figure Notes:**
[[f<image http://www.wizards.com/avalonhill/images/africa_gallery/Africa-AUOfcr.jpg]]The miniature is not a very flattering sculpt. The figure, a little too stocky to be realistic, appears to be walking into a strong wind. Since the statistics suggest that the officer should have a submachinegun, it would be nice to see him holding it waist-high and letting off a burst. The card art is much better, showing the officer racing towards the enemy, pistol in hand. |
