Okay, I only started playing AAM just a few months ago and am absolutely hooked. A friend of mine was asking me about going to GENCON Indy and all contained in there. I have never been or really even know what all goes on, even though I live in Indy. So I guess I was wondering if any of you guys had gone in the past and felt it was worth the money to go and if you are still planning on going this year.

I've gone to Gencon in years past, won't be going this year due to job stuff.  I went primarily for the table top D20 gaming stuff along with some of the other mini things that would be present.  It is definitely an experience.  Depends on if you are more of a SciFi/Fantasy geek or more of a History guy.  The first would probably have more fun.  Also depends on how far you are away from Indy.

WotC will have officially sponsored WaS tournaments on Thursday and Saturday night. Both tournaments start at 6:00 pm I think. Right now all "WaS fans" are invited to our own WaS event on Friday night. We will meet at the WotC gaming area at 6:00 pm and go from there.

Do we all want to go out for dinner first together like we did last year? Should we meet a little earlier if so?

What kind of game do we want play? 200 point standard "open"? Darkness? Play test the new Distance rules? Other ideas?

Count me in Weeds, as you know I'm signed up for both the "offical" tournies.  As far as early dinner that night, I believe I have another event that doesn't end til 5 or 5:30pm I'll check and get back to you.

I'm totally cool with an open 200pt match for the forumini friendly.  No so sure I wanna jump into the distance rules quite yet, however if thats what the concensus is them I'm game.

I was thinking we might go out for dinner at about 6:00 and start whenever we get back. It depends on what the group wants. We should be able to 'recruit' some players at the tournament on Thursday night.

200 pt matches work for me. Standard 'open' tournament rules? Or do we want to impose class limits and/or 'historical fleet restrictions?' Our gaming club usually follows class limits, but not fleet restrictions for our 'open' tournaments. We use restrictions when we create scenarios. But I can build a fleet either way.

In that case I'm in for dinner before hand.   Smile

As for specifics my group and I always use historical limits, however I'd be totally fine with just class limits.  I just don't want to see 3 Musashis or some other crap in a 200 pointer Wink

The two WAS tournaments I found were HMN09060324 8/16/2009 13:00 and HMN0906326 8/15/2009 18:00. The 8/16/09 is 200 points constructed and the 8/15/09 is 100 points constructed with night rules in effect after the 4th round.

I did not find any other listings.

As much as I want to meet up Friday, I was hooked up with some tickets to the Colts/Vikings game Friday night. I will try to meet up after the football game.

The great thing for you is that the convention center and Lucas Oil Stadium are right next door! Enjoy the Colts game!

There is another event - potentially the most important! It is a booster draft tournament on Thursday, August 13 at 5.00 pm. The event is called 'Axis & Allies Naval Miniatures" so searching on War at Sea will cause you to miss it. The code is HMN0906321. I am hoping they will have Flank Speed boosters for that event.

But thanks for pointing out the 200 pt game on Sunday afternoon. That was not posted earlier.

So now there are three official events.

I am coming with a couple of friends.  I do want to meet you guys and play Friday night.  One of my friends may be there too.  He has only played a few times, and with the original rules.

For most of the con I'll be in the Kenzerco room(s), DM'ing the new Hackmaster 5.0 rules and the Legends of Kalamar campaign.

My son and I are off to GenCon tomorrow! Actually, we won't get there until around noon on Thursday. I hope to see you at the official tournaments and at the 6:00 pm 'dinner and a sea battle' event on Friday night.

If get any good 'scoops' we will post them. But R.B. is not coming so I wouldn't count on anything this year.

Cast off the bow line!
