You can vote until Sunday 12 April.
Snippersly's Q-ship/CAM ship
A Q- Ship / Cam Ship for a convoy scenario for War at Sea. The plane and catapult came from a Karlsruhe and the guns from an Akitsuki.
After clipping the sanding the convoy ship I glued the pieces in place, primed it and painted it.
Rengokuy's Vice Admiral Popov
Imperial Russian Battleship
Materials - Pencil Eraser, Pringles Lid, Plastic Printer rod, Paper Clip, Twist Tie
Paints - Vallejo and Cithadel
Time Taken - 1 Day ish
To scale.
See modeling forum for descriptions and more photos
Task Force 57's HMS Abercrombie
Rebuilt monitor
the hull sections are from a sydney, upper works, control top 2nd'ary turrets and masts are from a musashi, roberts, yuki and a few other bits. main mast is scratch built as will be the bulges.
Drittal's USS New York
This was a week long labor of love that turned out pretty cool. USS New York scratch build. I used 40mm gun tubs and 20mm mounts from a Jean Bart and a Kingfisher from a MO. Everything else was from scratch. 1) The hull is done, with the moveable casemates temporarily mounted for test fitting. 2) applying the base coat, 3) note the position of the 14" mains and the 5" casemates. That's right, THEY ALL TURN!!!! You can also see the scratch built FD radar on the bridge and aft mast, the FC radar on the aft mast, and the directors on the back side of the bridge. 4) note the added float and propeller to the kingfisher...
Here is a video to show the guns being trained...
carrion's Fort Drum
Buzzkill's Flakpanzer IV 3.7cm "Mobelwagen"
[i]Components: NA PZIV Ausf. E, EF Entrenched Anti Tank Gun and its AAM card, Assorted glues, paints and bits from the parts box.
1) Here it is in the process of boxing in the superstructure and freeing the gun from its base. 2) Here it is with the sides built, the AT gun was flipped over, the recoil dampener was trimmed and the gun shield was squared up then additional shields from card were glued on. I cut out card triangles and glued them on to simulate the folding armor plates for when the sides were lowered and I added hinges on the sides made from metal wire. You can also see a bit of spare track glued to the front, an ammo box by the gun and a pack on the rear deck that I added from a FOW stowage kit., 3) Then here it is in all its glory. Flakpanzer IV 3.7cm "Mobelwagen" I posed it next to an unaltered Ausf. E so you can see the differences (other than the obvious enormous box instead of a turret!). Tamiya Dark Yellow base coat, then green/reddish brown camo added. Shading varnish, decals and dull coat to finish it up. I hope you like my "Furniture Van"!
The_lucky_Y's coastal batteries
material used: clay, steel zylinder pins from work for making the barrels of the coastal guns and valleyo paint, no WAS ship was hurt during the manufaction of these chits, made almost a dozen of each sort.
1) Airbase with AA guns in background, 2) Airstrip with a sub pen , a dock , medium coastal defense battery and one large coastal defense battery, 3) Island card with painted airbase a sub pen and a medium coastal defense battery, 4) island in foreground had also a painted airbase, a shipyard and small coastal defense battery and a large coastal defense battery

RedBaron's Maresal Tank Hunter M06
About: The Marshal Tank Destroyer was a Romanian Project from 1943. It had 6 prototypes in its development phase, first 4 of them being tested before the Hetzer appeared. Romanian sources state that in January 1944 a German delegation came to see the prototype M05 and even tested it. The conclusions were very positive and [i]probably (I would go for "granted") some solutions of the Maresal were incorporated into the Hetzer. The Maresal tank destroyer never made it into production, middle 1944 Romania retiring from the Axis side.
Technology: it was a “turtle-shaped” vehicle, very low profile (lower than the Hetzer), lighter (almost half the weight of the German vehicle), having a fixed turret with a 75mm Romanian AT gun (Resita) and 2 men crew. It was more or less a “soft-skin” vehicle, German experts that tested it evaluated its protection good enough only against small arms and soviet AT rifles. It was intended to be a hit and run vehicle, very fast and with passable off-road capabilities.
First 5 prototypes had soviet T60 chassis and tracks (from captured equipment), but for the M06 seems that the 38(t) chassis had been chosen (see photo).
The model: Starting point was its famous big brother, the Hetzer.
Making a Maresal from a v1 Hetzer has at least one positive thing for the V2 player as myself: the Maresal will emerge in V2 scale!
A small description of the work done:
- Removed the fixed turret and the gun of the Hetzer, also scraped the top of all things present.
- Re-modeled the initial gun and positioned it in a central position, but lower in the front of the vehicle. The part where initially the Hetzer gun was placed was filled with melted plastic.
- Parts of the bodywork from the front of the Hetzer were cut off (above the tracks).
- On the top side of the tank I placed a Stalwart Lt as part of the crew - created a small open hatch. Added a top MG made from Japanese AT Rifle.
- Added on the back side two external fuel barrels (taken from a Fuel Depot), like some T34 had. Also on the back-side was added a spare track wheel modeled from an English Entrenched AT Gun and a blanket roll. From the same piece I’ve took the sandbags present on the front of the Maresal.
- Added a shovel on one of the lateral sides. From my EF Panther barrel I made 3 tree trunks present on the other lateral side of the Maresal along with a towing cable (the Panther was refitted with a proper barrel). The tree trunks have ropes that fix them to the tank. Ropes and towing cable are made from a thin plastic fiber.
- A small headlight was placed on the frontal sloped armor, besides the sandbags who also have ropes that fix them to the tank.
- Base color: metallic grey. Repainted the Crew member, sandbags, added a few touches here and there. Placed Romanian decals (sign, flag, number).
The Card: Did not have time to make a proper card (soon to come) but here are the values that imo fit the M06:
Cost: 18 pt, Year 1944, Speed 4, Def: 3/2, AV: 15/13/11, AI: 5/-/-, Hard to Spot, No Turret, Strike Fade 1

I too would like Red Baron's Marshal Tank Destroyer in my Romanian army. Mine is totally inadequate to the task at such a late date. Have to use the German pieces and this would be so sweet taking out some Russian tanks.
There were a couple of others that tugged at my vote but this one had something extra. This is I think the first time I have voted for something other than a ship. Can't believe I'm doing that, feel biased. _________________ It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. #1 I liked the Fort Drum... unique, original. Good work.
#2 was the Flakpanzer. Excellent paint work!
#3 I loved the Maresal. Very cool conversion.
Thanks to who-ever voted for my CAM/Q Ship.

I would tend to agree with this. Game preference is highly likely to influence voting preference. _________________

To be honest I never played the Sea game but I admire it a lot. It seems like a great game, maybe in the far future I will get into it also...just to see how good would I be as an Admiral
I agree with the fact that the Land Game and Sea Game should have separate challenges. Maybe from next Olympics at least.
The following goes to Mr. Ken

After this Challenge I would like to send you my Maresal along with it's card, if you want it. This would be my way to thank you because you helped me when I had that problem with Popular Collections (if I am not mistaking it was you that helped/assisted me). PM me with a postal address at which you would like to receive the item.

Well, I was going to support my fellow Land gamer in Red Baron even before he just offered his Maresal M06 to Mr. Ken, but that really put him over the top! I considered doing some more add ons to my Flakpanzer but decided against it, after seeing RB with the gas tanks and the logs I really wish I had put some more stowage on mine. Nice work RB.
My top 3:
1) Maresal M06
2) Fort Drum
3) USS New York _________________ Nuts! - General Anthony McAuliffe

Thank you!
Actually I just want to say that, if I remember correctly, Mr. Ken did help me with Popular Coll. and my order there which was disregarded, so he phoned there, wrote some emails for "a guy" from Romania (that's me) who just joined this forum, a stranger - back then. He did a gesture that I appreciated a lot, so this is my way of saying "thank you".
And one other thing: the MARESAL project is not that well-know so I was glad to bring it to the attention of other people/players. Of course, because it's not very difficult to transform a Hetzer into a Maresal M06 I had to "borrow" some ideas from PanzerPainter (who's work I find really really good) and from someone (can't remember exactly who) that presented the Army Painter Quick Shade, in order to add some extra stuff to it. It was a lot of fun making it anyway.

I do have to say adding detail to a scratch built 1:1800 scale battleship is a difficult thing to do. I tried to put as much detail as possible on that blank white plastic. Texas is 570ft long, mine is 9.6cm. the main guns barrels are .030"x4mm, secondaries are .020"x2mm. All portholes hand drilled. Bow shape molded from green stuff. The range finders are about 1.5mm square with sloped front and a .030" hole drilled through and .030" rod inserted. _________________

You are being too humble, you did great work. I copy PanzerPainter extensively, I am constantly picking his brain and copying his projects. In fact I just re-based a Pak 40 and am working on that now, similar to one that PP posted a couple of weeks ago. As far as the Army Painter Quick Shade, I think that was me ( http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/about5971.html&highlight= ) that posted the test you are talking about, so if I can take a little credit for your great work I will gladly ride your coat tails! _________________ Nuts! - General Anthony McAuliffe

I had to think hard whom to give my vote - in the end the video was the deciding factor, USS NEw York
my runner ups are the MAresal and the Möbelwagen - both are equal to the USS New York IMHO (and the others not far behind ) _________________ [img.]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/db/Animated_gun_turret.gif[/img]

I agree I would like to see a AAM and a WAS category in the future. I think the modeling has really taken off in the past year since the first olympics and game preference truly does influence one's choice.
Last year I had to choose between entering my WAS terrain and AAM terrain. I went with WAS because it seemed to have a greater following even though I personally think my AAM work was better.
I collect AAM and WAS, but that USS New York was by far my 1st choice. 2nd Choice would have been difficult. I wish WoTC put half the effort into their product that some of the modelers on this forum do.
