do we have to pick a specific country or Axis or Allies or do we get free reign on all the ships  from both sets?

You 'll pick a side, axis or allies, when the game starts. You'll toss a coin for this (or roll a die to be more specific).

I might not be able to play this weekend, but I am certain I can catch up Monday with my opponent.

Greyh Seer, you should join!  It is really easy to play an online game.  I was very new to online gaming when I joined, then I played a practice game online against packertim and found out that it is easy (playing, not winning, I am losing the game).  And if you join, we can start, too.

You'll pick it up pretty quick, as long as you've played War at Sea before.

Look in the online match section for games and you'll see how they work. The dice roller is very simple and at least a few of the guys here can handle the map, otherwise you just print out the deathmatch map and use a pencil and eraser to do the movement, kind of like chess. It's fun!
