Snippersly's scenario.....
Battle of Calabria
July 9th 1940
Mediterranean Sea
Scenario: This is a recreation of the Battle of Calabria, also known as the Battle of Punta Stilo, because it took place just 30 miles east of the toe of the Italian "boot." Both sides had a large fleet and both sides claimed victory in the battle, however it was historically deemed a draw. This is your chance to recreate the battle and determine who the real victor might have been.
Map Set-up: Players choice- Deep-sea side of map is more realistic however.
Approx 250 pts each side
Royal Navy / Australia Navy War at Sea Equivalent
HMS Ark Royal & 3 Swordfish 52 pts
HMS Hood X2 (SA Fatal Flaw not in effect for scenario) 96
Ajax X2 Exeter X1 Sydney X1 52 pts
Javelin X 4 36 pts
Regia Marina
Vittorio Veneto X2 98 pts
Bolzano X4 72 pts
Emanuele Filiberto Duca d'Aosta X4 48 pts
Luca Tarigo X4 32 pts
Historical Results: Casualties
Royal Navy / Australia Navy
1 light cruiser damaged
2 destroyers damaged
Regia Marina
1 battleship damaged
1 heavy cruiser damaged
1 destroyer damaged
I have not playtested this one yet and have not really worked out any Victory Conditions for either side. I'm hoping for some feedback from you guys to help me flesh it all out. Enjoy!
