Hey, good questions. The set will consist of units available to the forces in the Pacific & Indian nations during December 1941. This has been bent a little, to include such ships as HMS Indomitable, which arrived in the Indian Ocean slightly later than that, due to unexpected repairs.

Japan will be the only Axis nation, while the Allies will consist of:

USA
United Kingdom
Netherlands
Australia
New Zealand
Canada

The set should consist of approx 100 units or more, with 25+ of those consisting of aircraft.

What about adding the units of Siam and France? Those nations actually fought each other by December 1941.

You won't be seeing them in Set I. We already have way more units than we can realistically fit into a set. I wouldn't rule it out as a future mini-set idea though.

This is rapidly becoming one of my favorite things to look forward to each week.  I base my weekly modelling project on whatever cards have been produced that week.  I guess it's the Indomitable this week!

Okay that's understandable. I think if these go over well ( and I believe they will) there will be a need and a demand for another set(s).

OK, our take on Soryu and Hiryu. I think I'll draw some flak for the 3 basing capacity, so I'll show you the reasons behind it:

In December of 1941, these two carriers could base 73 aircraft. The Yorktown carriers were certainly capable of basing 100 planes, but at the beginning of the war, they rarely were sent out with more than 80 planes. They received a basing of 3, so I gave it to Soryu and Hiryu too. Also, since WAS squadrons (stands of 3 aircraft) typically represent 25 planes, I decided a 73 capacity deserves and basing of 3.

If you disagree, just house-rule them to 2. It's not like these are official cards or anything. Although Von does an excellent job making them appear that way....

I hope find the SA I came up with for Hiryu interesting. Also, I hope the IJNCVLF enjoys getting another carrier with Expert Torpedoes.

Why would you receive flak for the capacity Surprised? It's well within the capacity 3 range.

I agree basing of 3 is totally appropriate for these fleet carriers.

Nicely done.

Love the new cards.

On the back of the Houston card, if you care, you should change the word "compatriot" when referring to HMAS Perth in relation to the Houston.  "Compatriot", I believe, would only fully apply if both ships were USN.

You are correct. It can also mean one's colleague. See the second definition. I don't think we'll change it, but we will be more careful with our wording in the future.

Man - I love all of these cards. And we've finally got some real synergy between ships - they gain some pretty inventive SAs while working together. Keep 'em coming and where are the previous ones you created?

I haven't made any cards. These cards are a group effort, and Vornargith alone is responsible for the excellent card design. Also, right now we are taking request. Just post what you'd like to see here in this thread. It must fit the following criteria:

-Available in Dec'41
-From the Pacific Theater
-non-fantasy ship
