I have decided to compile the numerous stickies into one "Everything you need" thread. I will be deleting the old ones, as they will be unnecessary.

Registered members of this forum can request a custom sig to be prepared for them by our talented forumers.

The sig can then be used in any other forum too, but it will have a small text reference of the url of the forumini and of course the name of the sig's designer.

Unless otherwise requested, it should have reasonable size, both in terms of kbytes and pixels, say something like max 100 kbytes and 700x250 or so.

The old AH_ forum had a limit of 500x100 and about 19kbytes.

The designers are free to create anything they want, but I made a simple custom sig which you may want to use as some sort of a guideline:

It's 500x197 pixels, 72kbytes or so.

I am creating a photobucket account for all of us to use. I am in the process of uploading the sigs from the old forum threads. You can choose one, and one of us Photoshop users will customize it for you.

Username: WaS_sigs

Email (for signing in): genericaccount@yahoo.com

Password: forumini1

This account can not only be used by me, but other users can host their sigs there, and if you want to host an image, just create your own album and go from there.

Another use for Photobucket is to find those great-looking pin-up girls for your sigs. There are a surprising amount on there, way more than you would find on Google. Just a piece of advice.

and for those of us too lazy to go look at the photobucket account, here are its contents:

Feel free to take any of these sigs, or ask for them to be modified for your personal use.

This is the part that everyone always wants to know about: How do I put my sig in my sig???

Well, here is the answer:

1. Ask someone to make one for you
2. Once they have posted it, save it to your desktop (or anywhere on your computer)
3. You will need a photobucket account. You can either create your own or use the one that I created for all of us.
http://www.photobucket.com

Code:
Username: WaS_sigs
Email (if needed for signing in - probably not): genericaccount@yahoo.com
Password: forumini1

4. Upload the image to the photobucket account.
5. Here's where it get tricky. In the lower left corner of the screen on photobucket, there will be a box with four links in it. Click on the link that has "[IMG] code" next to it, and a little box will pop up that says "Copied"
6. Come back here and paste the link into your signature line, which can be edited under "Profile". Make sure that [IMG][/IMG] is surrounding your link (caps or not doesn't matter).
7. *IMPORTANT* Make sure that you are set to attach your signature to every post (can also be changed under "Profile")

Hopefully this answers all of your questions. If not, feel free to post in this thread, except if you are testing your sig, in which case, use the stickied Testing Thread.

Not trying to be a problem, but the union on the flag in the USN signature (seventh from the top) should be on the upper-left hand corner of the flag (the flag's own right).

Thanks.

Hello and thank you for great advice, but still I have a question left. Above my sig there are advertisements. Can these be turned off or are these a feature ?

My first custom sig, Hurrah  Very Happy
Thank you for making this feature available.

No, the last poster in every thread must be the "bearer" of the ads. See, now I have them above my sig, no big deal.

Interesting fact:

There are TONS of pin-up girls on Photobucket for use with sigs.

Way more than on Google.

Interesting fact.

Just create a new thread with your request for the Zuikaku pic in this thread.

And you'll need to provide more detail. Do you just want your name, or a pin-up, or whatever.

But do it in a new thread.

Hmmm yet it does not seem to show up in other threads. Just when I post. Hmmm.

Well anyhow thanks Mad Ghost.

I believe that Gross Admiral Raeder (now departed [under dubious circumstances]) used that as his avatar. Usually, sigs are more along the dimensions of the Tirpitz picture in my sig. You're welcome to use it, though.

I just tried it, and it works fine for me.

Make sure you capitalize the right things in the username, and there are no caps at all in the password.
