As a kid once said in a movie, "That was totally wicked!"  Too bad he didn't say it in the present tense.  Awesome work!  Man, that railing just blows me away.  I've always thought about getting a paint sprayer.  Can you list out your model # and attachments and what-not?

Thanks guys!

Tomorrow it'll be finished and I'll take some proper photos in good lighting.

Basically done, the case is being made by my casemaker so final photos may appear on a generic stand and I'll do that later tonight. I just finished the rigging and tonight I'll do a flat coat to seal everything in.

The lower hull is weathered and faded a bit, upper hull was freshly painted and no weathering other than some washes to bring out the fantastic detail. I'm happy wit how the lower hull turned out but mating the two dissimilar plastics like the high-def black to styrene has limitations. One problem is that the bottom of the printed area is very slightly rounded and sanding doesn't make it sharp enough so lots of filler and sanding. I probably won't do it like this again.

In the final photo post I'll list all the paint colors if you guys think it would be helpful.

Bad fluorescent lighting, better pics will come

Lemme know what you think.

Thanks!

Do you mean airbrush?

I use a Paasche and and Iwata. I run both at the same time off two compressors.

I'll post a full list of paint colors at the end when I take better pics.

Looks like the camera and the horrible lighting is picking up some stuff that isn't there. Strange. Better pics later tonight definitely

Yes, I meant airbrush.  I'd be interested in your setup because I'd like to see what it would cost to get into using one.

BTW, this would be awesome without all of the extras (railing/lines etc.), but it's amazing how you were able to add those at this scale!

Are we sure that Speedbird is actually building things this small and doesn't actually have a shrink ray?
Absolutely amazing.

As promised, the list of paint and other finishing materials

982 Cavalry Brown (antifowling)
991 DSG (hull)
992 Neutral Grey (decks)
989 Sky Grey (camouflage bow and stern)
995 German Grey (boot topping)

824 German Ochre and 324 Highlight French mixed (teak deck)

AK Interactive naval washes

Rustall

I never ever use pure white or pure black. I don't even buy black or white paint, just grey. Everything looks more realistic if you use shades of grey to depict white or black.

Fantastic work! The wood-grain base is great, the water effects are amazing and finally the detail is tremendous.

Beautiful work.
