This is a game I think I want to get into.  The initial cost, and not knowing how many local players there are, are keeping me out so far.  X-Wing is the big Star Wars game here; I finally bought the starter set for that.

Vetnor, in your pictures above, are those corvettes taking on Star Destroyers?  How much can those "snub fighters" hurt a SD?

It's an absolutely amazing game, even with the limited ship choice at present Smile

So if you had to choose between starting SW:Armada or buying newer ships for SW:X-Wing, which way would you lean.

Armada, no doubt. I feel X-Wing has pretty much jumped the shark at this point (though the upcoming Gozanti looks sweeeeeet!).

at the moment I have plenty of units for XW league that I'm involved in at the LGS.  No one there seems interested in Armada (spent enough on XW) so will likely get for casual play off and on.  I will say it looks awesome on the table.

Having played both...I like Armada better. In fact I'm selling my X-wing as I have no interest in playing it anymore.

My Wave 2 ships FINALLY arrived.  Been a long slow burn waiting for these things, but its great to finally have the ISD in hand.  What a huge "miniature"!

Mine should be here any day now. I also ordered a few of Mel's custom ships during the Shapeways cyber monday sale. 6 Dreadnaughts, 4 DP-20s, 2 Assault Frigate MkIs, 1 MC 80 "Liberty", 4 Lancer Frigates, 3 Gr 75 Transports, and a mixed set of Imperial Fighters...

You know, just the basics. Just wish there was somewhere cheaper to get stands from.

I'm thinking about the same. I also run the OP's for both Star Trek and D&D Attack wing, so those, plus Armada, give me enough of the ship battle experience. Add in ramping up on Bolt Action, my time is filled. Too many games, too little time.

Finally got my pre-ordered stuff. Couple of Imperial-class SDs (also Home One and MC-30 frigates). Now I just need the half dozen Dreadnaughts and 4 Lancer Frigates I ordered from Shapeways and I'll be about set.

Most retailers here in Canada want about $120 CND + tax for the core set, so I've held off.

A few days ago I saw that Amazon.ca was selling Armada core for $97 CND, with free shipping!  I ordered a copy and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow....

Just a hint - go to Book Depository.
SW Armada is ~95CAD, regularly 30% off. No shipping fee.
The expansion sets are cheap too.

Thanks, once my SW shipment gets here (it got misrouted to Florida!) I'll snap another picture. I'm also trying to locate a large scale Super Star Destroyer model that I'll add to the fleet.

I got all excited!  New news for Armada Wave III...

https://www.fantasyflightgames.co...16/bigger-battles-better-tactics/

Then I read the news.  Wave III, while interesting, is disappointingly small.  While I look forward to adding these ships, I'm a little dismayed at the slow development of this great game (not as slow as Sails of Glory though...hurmph)!
