The Riverside Gaming Mall will be offering new terrain pieces Ive been sculpting for AAWAS.  These are exclusive to the mall and will eventually include replica's of some of WW2's more famous Islands and Coastal Fortresses such as Oscarsborg Fortress in Scandinavia, the Guernsey Island Mirus Battery along the Atlantic Wall, Malta, and Iwo Jima just to name a few.  The following are some early pics of a generic island and air field Ive finished sculpting.  The HMS Canada is for reference.

Please feel free to give any advise or idea's concerning these terrain pieces.  Also please express if you would be interrested in terrain pieces or not for AAWAS.  These will be fully painted and incude flocking and foliage when done.

Thanks all,

Chris Hernandez

Nice! Maybe I should see about having you make a set with Dover and Calais for the Channel Dash someday... (the Brit and Kraut guns were close enough to shell each other in some places!)

More work, finishing the rest of the "generic" islands and Sea Forts.  The large "2 sea zone" island is still being shaped out.  There will be a port and dock on one side and probably a native islander style village on the other.

It looks like you are using green stuff to do your modeling, is this correct or have you found an inexpensive substitute?

To answer your question Wasp, yes its greenstuff.  Its really the only reliable method of sculpting masters for latex molds so that the figures/terrain can be mass produced.

Ok, more work... islands have recieved black primer, paint, and ink.  Next step will be to paint the ocean around the islands and then the final step will be flocking and adding foliage to finish out.  Still not sure if these will end up on ocean tiles (as they currently are) for use on the AAWAS Game Map, or, if they will be without bases making them more universal for any naval table top gaming.

Seisen, are you self-taught with your modeling or is there a modeling book you learned from?

Ok the prelim-set of generic islands and fortresses are done.  They have recieved dull-coat, flock, and foliage.  I painted the tiles pretty quickly, nothing special so dont cring at the water, afterall it may not be on the final product.  There are some WOTC gun turrets on one of the islands... that is an example of personal modeling done using AAWAS spare ship parts etc... the actual islands WILL NOT have any turrets or ship parts added, allthough there will be spaces for you to add your own if you like.

Let me know what you think?  If you might like a set please PM Jameson with your info and how many you would like.  No price details yet guys but as soon as we know, we will inform those who are interrested and then make a formal announcement both here and at the riverside gaming mall.
