Post subject: TRY HERE THE NEW DICE-ROLLER
|
|
|
Woohoo. I did the graphics and uber-admin the coding for dice-rolling in all Myfastforums: Thanks to our forum it's now universally available for the first time in a free forum. No hacks, no mods.
Just make sure that BBCode is enabled in your post ( i believe it's the default) and type:
Don't try to edit or delete . It's not gonna work . Each roll is unique for each post.
The limit is 24 dice I believe.
Use this thread to try the dice-roller.
I roll first, as shown in the code above:

For obvious reasons, Edit and Delete are disabled from online-matches forums! _________________

It is actually only disabled in posts where you rolled dice, not all posts. _________________ I have to make a new sig because my old one is too wide for this new look... |

Never mind, the edit button is there but you can't edit.
And the dice limit is now 24. _________________ I have to make a new sig because my old one is too wide for this new look... |

Well, that ought to do even for a Super Yamato or Montana. |

And actually it was a pretty average roll I think the expected successes on 24 dice is around 14 or so. Only one "6" too...
But then I suppose an average nuke attack should put a battleship out of action... |

16 actually (the average production of any one die is going to be 2/3 of a success. |

| Blackeagle is correct. If you think about it, if you were to roll one die six times, you would expect each possible result to come up once, because each result has a 1/6 chance. Thus, you would expect to roll a 1, a 2, a 3, a 4, a 5, and a 6. The 1, 2, and 3 wouldn't count for anything, the 4 and 5 would give you one point each, and the 6 would give you two points. Adding that together, rolling one die six times would give you four points. Reducing, rolling three times would give you two points, or 2/3 of a success per die. |

I stand corrected
I went and plugged it into the trusty old spreadsheet and it said 15 and 16 were equally likely. Not sure why that would be, your logic seems right that 16 should be more likely that 15, but I'm not a statistician. Maybe my spreadsheet has a bug. Anyway, it's definitely not 14 |

Now why do two of the same rolls come out the same? That could be a bit of hassle, but we will just live with it, I guess. _________________ I have to make a new sig because my old one is too wide for this new look... |
