The side armor on this venerable preDN was 18" thick. This is because the earlier USA preDNs used a less effective armor as did the other ships build in the early 1890s. |
My information for her is:
Armor Belt: 11.8"-15.74"-11.8" (300-400-300mm) Krupp (compound on Wörth) on 11.8"-7.87"-11.8" (300-200-300mm) teak backing
Waterline Belt: 7"-7.87"-7" (180-200-180mm) Krupp on 16.5"-15.74"-16.5" (420-400-420mm) teak backing
Deck: 2.36" (60mm) Krupp
Turrets: 4.7" (120mm) sides Krupp, 1.97" (50mm) roof
Secondary: 1.65"
Barbettes: 11.8" (300mm) on 8.27" (210mm) teak (compound on Weissenburg: barbettes A and C)
Forward conning Tower: 11.8" (300mm) sides Krupp, 1.2" (30mm) roof
Aft conning Tower: 4.7" (120mm) sides Krupp, 1.2" (30mm) roof
What is that compound on Wörth?
Where does it get in Durandel's equations?
According to Durandel:
| Durandel wrote: | 100mm Krupp Cement (KC) = 130 mm Harvey Steel = 300 mm Schmiedeeisen (I think steel) = 200 mm compound sandwich = about 60 mm Wotan Hard = about 80mm Wotan Weich.

Maybe Durandel could clear this up. _________________
