Version 1.1 of the new speed table has been added to page one of this sticky as well.

Version 1.1 ( Speed Table )

< 10kts= Cripples                           Speed 0 *** ( See Cripple Rule )

11-14kts= Monitors                         Speed 1
Trawlers and Subs

15-18kts= Pre-Dreadnoughts           Speed 1  SA  All Ahead Full
Coastal Def. Vessels

19-22kts= Dreadnoughts                  Speed 2
Slow Cruisers

23-26kts= Fst Dn's and Slw Bc's      Speed 2  SA  All Ahead Full
Fst Cruisers

27-30kts= Battlecruisers                  Speed 3
Scout Cruisers
Slow Destroyers

31kts + = Other fast craft                Speed 4

Explanations......

All Ahead Full : If this unit makes no course deviations ( turns ) during it's movement step, this unit gains + 1 speed

Cripple Rule : ( This replaces WaS rule ) all crippled ships assume speed 0. A ship traveling speed 0 can either temporarily gain "All Ahead Full" and move 1 sector straight ahead, or, it may remain in the sector without moving, but may change it's facing. ( Crippled ships are struggling just to stay afloat, maneuvering is pretty much out of the question )

The guidelines as posted don't include what constitutes L M and S guns and L M and S targets or the procedure for determining AA factors.

As I recall, we decided that Small guns were up to 5.5", Medium up to 7.5", and Large everything over that, although I think there was a suggestion to make 15" and above Very Large. I can't remember what the deal was with target size, although that may have been in the gun size discussion somewhere. I know there was a discussion of AA factors but I haven't been able to find it.

If we're going to add more ships we'll need this information, which I'm sure somebody with a better memory than mine can provide.

I can look around a little bit too.  If there won't be enough people around to really do ships, then perhaps at least we can put a lock on one version of the rule-book and get it all in order and in one place.  Same with the stat guide-lines.  Then it'll be easier to pump up production a bit later.

I found the message thread about L M S guns: http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/about4771.html

and the initial thread regarding gun size vs target size:
http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/about4140.html

I'm pretty sure there was more discussion than just these two threads though.

Didn't find much about determining AA factors.

You're right, there must have been some discussion elsewhere, perhaps in a ship thread or something.

Edit.

Here's two more:
http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/about4111.html
http://aaminis.myfastforum.org/about4186.html

The first one starts with a really big change that we didn't adopt, but I think they then tend towards what we ended up with.

So, yes Small guns were up to 5.4, perhaps 5.5 depending on HMS Chester I think (which actually was the only example of 5.5's we've seen so far).  For what constitutes the medium/large split I don't know yet, I've seen 7.5, 8.5, 9.9...

I think it's 8.5 after looking through the cards.  There are 8"ers as small batteries, and I think I saw a 9.2 listed as a Large battery, but after looking at a bunch of cards, maybe I'm confused.  I'm pretty sure it's 8.5.

You are right about 15" too, they get ER5, though not sure if they need a separate icon or a separate gun size.

This still leaves a place for ER SA's (a smaller gun that performs well) and perhaps for another SA, something like quick traverse (ship takes no penalty shooting down one ship size).  Or a negative version for, say, a medium size gun whose ponderous rate of fire deserves a -1 against medium targets.

Anyway, I'm slowly starting to catch up.
