He descends two levels. Turns in B8, C8, C9, then ends in dive status facing the smoking Channel Front.

I think I'll readjust the map a before our next turn, I'm actually a little amazed I haven't had to recenter it before.

Rules clarification:  I had read the "retreat from map" item in the book as an additional strategic option for handling and managing the game.  Pg13 on moving around the battlemap makes it sound like flying off the edge of the map is a sheer accident of map-size and gameplay and the language is fairly strong on keeping units in play if possible.

I had moved south the last turn with the idea that I'd probably not live, but if I did, I'd retreat from the battlefield next turn.

What do you think?

Well you could still force a retreat by moving the other plane in such a way as to prevent the map from being readjusted.


I'm not sure how I'd handle retreat otherwise. Maybe declare a retreat and if the plane isn't downed within X number of turns you stop adjusting the map?

Though how would you handle that if it were the last fighter around and downing it was re difference between victory and defeat.. hrm. Will need to think more on this.

The winner is automatically the player that has planes left, that's somewhere in the rulebook.

Also, I'm for adjusting the map between turns, but not during a turn if that makes sense. Like now, with the map recentered at the start, if you fly off you fly off.

Alright, here's what I was thinking:

CF speed-4 is committed to a right turn in b8, flies into b7, makes a left turn into A 6.5, then flies off the map.  This is worth 27.5 of the 30 points you'd need to win.

Whups. Looks like I moved him 5. He should be in C10.

I think I drew the line and meant to leave him in C10 with the yellow leading in front of him into D10, but accidentally placed him at the end of it.

I think I need to do something crazy to hopefully even the odds a bit.

Wurger moves at high speed 6.

Enters E4.5 and turns south. proceeds to E6.5 where it attempts to dive


Rolls: (2d6)     +5 vs 13.

Loses an altitude regardless

continues to E9.5 where it turns to face the Guards Yak-1 head-on and dives upon it.

Win or lose, its time to be crazy.

Just saw this now.  I think I get the same outcome, but I have to use my Methanol boost finally.  I know you hit a ton better with 5 dice, but I'd rather have extra vital chances that 2 extra dice are worth.
