Some of these are nice, I look for pictures for screen-savers etc., and searches brought me to these, but many have informational in addition to picture content as well.

Shame RegiaMarina.net isn't working _________________

I found this one a long time ago and recently rediscovered it:
http://www.battleship.org/
Has quite an extensive database on battleships. Primarily American, but definetly has a listing of international ones too.
Edit: I mispoke...guess it is only for the Iowa class battleships, but does have a few interesting comparisons of WWII battleships. _________________ "Si vis pacem parabellum" - If you want peace, prepare for war

That link doesn't seem to work...
Anyhow I've updated the list with a couple more sites. Of special note (to me anyhow) is the Kriegsmarine Camouflage link. Very, very interesting stuff! _________________

HazeGray has a better presentation format, but www.History.Navy.Mil/DANFS has every DANFS entry, while the other guys still have a lot missing. _________________ <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Bobs Warships are all large scale very expensive metal models many of which are not made any more. I highly recommend that scratch builders go look at these because there are details there that don't always show up as clearly in line drawings and smaller models. For example, the main differences between North Carolina and Washington are very visible. _________________ Amatures study tactics, rank amatures study strategy, professionals study wargames.

Here's something I found that might be new to you if you haven't been hanging out in the Dreadnought Rising forum. The link is to a Russian-language web-site that consists mostly of scans of military history magazines, they have a lot about naval history from the Russo-Japanese war up through the modern day, plus plenty of WWII aviation content as well. The links at the top take you to smaller categorized groups of links, but each issue is there in that big list on the front page.
Here's the link
http://www.wunderwaffe.narod.ru/
a site like Babel fish will translate the whole thing for you.

Hey guys ... I'm looking for some information about concept ships that never made it into production. I know there was a British idea for a mega-carrier and ice carriers, but what about some far-out ideas that may have inspired noire-science fiction?
I thought it'd be fun to play some games with a German uber-u-boat or Japanese super-carrier. American ace pilots in experimental craft and British submersible carriers would be interesting as well. And what if the French had not fallen to Germany? Would the Joffre carrier have been built? |

Ships, get Conway's '22-'46. It's got everything that was seriously considered except the Pykrete-carrier.
Planes, the USAF Museum website lists everything they flew or ordered, even the prototypes like the IIRC-never-flown-POS Fisher P-75 "Eagle" (shoulda been called "Turkey"). All the weird birds you could want: the tailless XP-56 Black Bullet, the jet-powered bomber-rammer XP-79, more B-17 and B-29 mods than you can shake a stick at, including liquid-cooled power conversions (which may have helped performance, except that the re-engined B-17 was destroyed in a hangar-fire before they could get any real testing done) or insanely up-armed escort-gunships...
CombinedFleet.com lists Japanese navy prototypes (haven't found a good site on IJA Air Force or Luftwaffe yet). _________________ <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
